Very peaceful and calming, especially in the sunshine - well worth exploring particularly I with an ice cream in the sunshine!

Really beautiful place. It was very grey today and the place was full of people, i cant imagine how it would be on a really sunny day. There were some guys playing guitar behind us and it made the moment very special. I absolutely loved it

Gardens are pleasant and well maintained. An area where you can have a picnic and enjoy the ruins. Nice and calm. I would say that weekends get very busy here but overall a nice place

Great place to take timeout away from the hustle and bustle of town. Sit on a bench, of which there are plenty, or lounge on the grass. Have a sandwich and watch the world go by. Take photos against a variety of back drops, the Yorkshire Museum, the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey, the River Ouse, the Hospitium or Multangular... More

This is a peaceful part of York. You can come here to find your solitude or snap a photo of the many squirrels around. The stand out piece for me is the ruins of St Mary's. This was victim to Henry VIII reformation. You can marvel at what is left and its all for free.

It is a very beautiful place and it's nice walking in the gardens. as it was summer almost all those visiting are sitting on the ground. For a traveler like me who visited for the first time England, I can only say wow.

A good place to simply wander, picnic (local delis can set you up with tastey morsels), contemplate. Nice to watch the grey, sorry no red, but nonetheless cute squirrels gamble. Listen to birdsong, read a book or people watch. Take in the ruins of the impressive St Mary's Abbey destroyed by Henry VIII. Take a look at the impressive York... More

A beautiful garden which although bust at times can be so tranquil, try it for a picnic (weather permitting)
