located on the side of ouse river, the museum garden, alongside with St. Mary Abbey, and small lovely church (at the time i visited there was a wedding ceremony), and beautiful park. I think, spring and summer are the perfect times to spend the day in this garden.

Despite my dog barking, it was very peaceful - even in the Winter. The frost was nice, and if your a keen photographer get there early as York gets busy from 10am onwards.

The park has some nice mature trees and at the centre is York museum, but there are also some substantial Roman ruins and the ruined walls of a medieval Abbey. Free entry and well worth a brief detour.

The gardens has a series on buildings and ruins through the ages and is a mini history tour by itself. Gardens are pleasant and run down to the river. Allow 1 to 2 hours.

Peace and Gothic beauty overlooking the Ouse. Always a treat and an escape from the holiday crowds. I go there daily during my trips to York.

There is a winding path next to the river that almost cuts you off from the crowds and... More

A natural spot to visit if walking the City Walls; houses the Yorkshire Museum, Abbey ruins, and plenty of wildlife. A compact City park you can walk around in 15 minutes. Also houses a lovely building that seems to host private events. There is also a new restaurant opened at the river entrance to the park which looked like a... More
