Tranquil gardens

A lovely oasis to sit & relax in after a walk in the city centre, on a very hot day. Some interesting buildings & ruins to see as well

Manicured lawns and an ample array of beautiful flowers. A lovely place to simply sit and watch the world go by.

These gardens are tremendous! The gardens are filled with colour and places to sit, or take a blanket and ist on the grass with a picnic (remember not to litter!!). The gardens house ruins to explore and a museum to visit. The highlight for us, we visit here a lot!, is feeding the wildlife, so remember wild bird seed for... More

I am lucky enough to have my daughter living in York as a guide; these gardens are quite lively, there was a falconry display on when we visited. Thoroughly recommended, although on a hot Summer Sunday I think it may get very crowded - although that goes for anywhere in York!

In my early twenties I found a recently killed kestrel... More

With a bit of time to spare this was a good place for a stroll around, and enough to look at in terms of ancient remains to provide variety. it was quiet early on a nice morning, might not be later in the day??
