beautiful gardens for a stroll or to sit and relax, though in peak season they are busy. Lovely views of the river.

Our hotel was on the opposite side of the park from the historic center, and one of the highlights each day was walking through this park to whatever we were intending to see that day. Not only is this park beautiful, with the facade of St. Mary's and perfectly manicured lawns and flower beds, but it's also historic. We spent... More

We didn't know these existed, and were pleasantly surprised at this area. Wonderful ruins and loads of wonderful wildlife.

This is our stop-off park on the way into town and has so much going for it - beautiful ruins, a museum, plenty of green space, pathways and hidden areas. Can be very busy in summer but has various things going on in it such as ice-cream van, birds of prey, illuminate York, museum exhibitions and the observatory. Take your... More

York is a wonderful place, but as befits a city of its antiquity that is so well-preserved, it's very densely built up, admittedly with some very beautiful buildings. It has some of the most atractive urban spaces in Britain, but if you find yourself tired of mediaeval bricks or lovely stonework, and feel you need something a bit more biological,... More

Very beautiful gardens within the centre of York. I visit these gardens on a regular basis with pre-school children for a picnic and fun. During the summer months there are often one or two activities available which makes the journey here worthwhile. Lovely place for a walk with it's old buildings. On my recent visit children's activities had been advertised... More

I visited the Museum Gardens several times during June because it was so beautiful and there was the added feature of owls and birds of prey shows! Great day, and it was free! Would probably be miserable in the rain though. Lovely day with friends, also popped into the observatory.

The plants and flowers in the garden are glorious, and it is such a lovely spot to wander after a trip along the river or a visit to the museum.

Really well maintained gardens with free entry. A lovely storytelling area in the centre, on the banks of the Ouse, beautiful flower beds and the amazing ruins of St Mary's Abbey to explore. Definitely worth a look...take a picnic on a nice day! These gardens are a testament to how well York residents look after their public paces!
