Visited twice, early in the morning whilst still very quiet. Saw lots of birds and squirrels and enjoyed the peacefulness as well as the beautiful flowers. Visited later in the day and it was absolutely packed with people enjoying the sunshine and picnicking. Good place for a rest from the hustle and bustle of the city

Gorgeous gardens I would have enjoyed sitting in for a while in another life. Never made it to the museum.

Nothing to dislike. Beautiful garden with river right next to it. Bird of prey display there too. Centrally placed in heart of city centre.

We had our wedding photographs taken in the museum gardens and they are absolutely beautiful with all the pretty spring flowers out. We would recommend all visitors to York to visit the garden

My favourite place in York by far. I loved just sitting there and reading, being observed by squirrels. Very peaceful area. And the ruins if the abbey make the gardens very romantic.

Very beautiful garden where the flowers are blooming daffodils, tulips...... Different colors and odors in a greenery sight and you can see some ducks walking around and squirrels around the trees plus some monuments. There is a museum but it closes at 5 I guess when I went there it was closed. If you love nature you need to go... More

Love walking around here and having a quiet seat after all the biz of the city and so much walking. Lovely colourful displays even at this time of year.

We always visit the gardens when we visit York whether it's Spring or Winter. On a Summer's day it's a great spot to sit and relax and watch the boats on the river. In the autumn, it's overrun with squirrels darting around which can be great fun. You can also visit historic features such as the Roman section of the... More

I love sitting in museum gardens on a sunny day, watching the boats sail by on the river and bringing along a picnic. There is plenty of space to sit in a quiet spot under a tree or to fling a frisbee if it takes your fancy! A lovely gem in the middle of an equally beautiful city.

We took a break from all the walking around York by doing more walking at the garden. It was worth the walk. It was peaceful with flowers coming out at the end of winter. The garden is well kept. It was lovely to sit and just be...
