The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation...

The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation believed to be the first in the world. We promise a unique opportunity to discover the hidden magic of our ancient City through the real art of storytelling. Tales are drawn from the immense history of York and are told against a backdrop of haunting beauty. We walk in the very footsteps of those who have passed before.

I live in York but was on this walk with a friend from out of town. We both enjoyed ourselves very much and even I learned something new about York :) The guy giving the walk obviously knew his stuff, although there was an element of ham about him. No problem with that as it takes acting skills to get... More

This is a good evening!! It's a really enjoyable evening... You really get into it especially walking around the dark eerie streets and it's cold and your up the shambles and it's all just lit by the street lights. Hours later I was still thinking about the stories that we were told!!!

Went with a group of friends on Friday 13th expecting to have a really good time. It was awful. The stories were boring and neither frightening or funny. Stories about poltergeists haunting modern shoe shops and Gregg's Bakery were not what we were expecting at all. It was really disappointing and thoroughly spoilt the evening we had been planning for... More

When you visit York and would like to spend a fun evening walking the streets.and listening to ghost tales then the Original Ghost Walk is for you. It is well paced, entertaining and reasonably priced . It got a little spooky when the guide asked if anyone was staying at the hotel facing the Tower (which we were) and had... More

Absolutely brilliant- thank you Dave. Great for children as they're very considered & go to the front so they can hear. Wonderful historical content, tour guide has brilliant knowledge & answers questions. Mixed emotions of laughter, sadness, scariness & fun. No ghosts seen, but what a great night...well worth the money!

We went on this ghost walk the night before halloween and it was just brilliant! It was the perfect balance of funniness and scariness! I was very worried that it would be boring and only for children, but it was the complete opposite! The guide was friendly, funny and really good at telling the stories. What I personally liked the... More

A lovely autumn evening. Great way to pass 1.5 hours. Suitable for all the family and all abilities. Heard 9 stories in 90minutes. Mark really knows his stuff and looks and sounds the part. Have never done this walk before or any other in York even though we planned to do it many years ago. Well worth it and only... More

My friends and I decided to go along to this for our overnight in York, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Chris, the guide, was an awesome host and put such effort into telling the stories that he keeps you engrossed throughout. It shows you much of the area without going into too much detail (so you can still explore for... More

Very entertaining stories carefully selected for our group. Chris our guide safely led a group of 40 children around the city. He told stories in a way that had everyone gripped.
