Description: The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation...
The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation believed to be the first in the world. We promise a unique opportunity to discover the hidden magic of our ancient City through the real art of storytelling. Tales are drawn from the immense history of York and are told against a backdrop of haunting beauty. We walk in the very footsteps of those who have passed before.

Thoroughly enjoyed this Ghost Walk mainly, I think, because of the excellent guide we had on the evening we went on it (Ray Alexander, if I remember his name correctly). Although there were a lot of people on the tour that night, nothing was missed because of his excellent way of projecting his voice and creating the right atmosphere whilst... More

We had an excellent time with our group of special needs adults. Thoroughly entertained with a bespoke tour which fitted the needs of the group very well. We visited lots of locations with funny, scary and informative story telling. Even better - Mark donated his time to make this a special evening for us. Thank you.

As the title suggests I didn’t find this tour very ghostly, which I was surprised because York is famous for the Roman’s, Vikings, William the Conqueror and it seems every pub you go to is either the oldest or haunted, so my expectations were probably a lot higher. It was an informative walk, the guide was quite witty in his... More

Having had a fab time doing this walk previously (years ago), I recommended it to my daughter. They stood in the Kings Arms Wednesday evening 7.30 till 8.40pm...no one turned up. (lots of peeps waiting, like them). Second and last night of York stay, Thursday 23rd April...same story. The bar staff were asked and could do nothing. No contact/excuses. Poor... More

My friends and I decided to book a group ghostwalk as part of my hen-do and we had a blast! Mark was very engaging and entertaining. We listened to lots of interesting and spooky stories about the areas and buildings in the city and walked off our afternoon tea! I visit York regularly and found the facts, histories and tales... We went on the ghost walk with a guide called Chris. He met us outside the pub and introduced himself and took £5 from everybody. The stories were interesting and informative but we're more historical than spooky. I've been on many ghost walks and this wasn't scary at all. My main issue is, I was on a walking stick and... I have been on many walking tours and this one was recommended so I had high expectations for this one. I must admit I was a little disappointed with the tour. The route is long and skirts around the city for most of the tour. The stops are lacking in interest and the stories on this occasion did not inspire.... More

York is one of those cities built upon layers of history and subsequently full of stories of characters from all eras. On a typical ghost walk you will hear tales of Romans, Vikings, Monks and more contemporary ghosts. There are a number of ghost tours available in York, but the most popular one seems to be by the Original Ghost... More

I have literally just got back from this tour. I found it very interesting and informative. Our guide was very entertaining and personable. I've seen some reviews on here that criticise his historical facts but come on who cares unless you're a historian. The guy told some very interesting tales and for a fiver you can't really grumble. He even... More

We arrived at 7.50ish thinking we would be greeted upon arrival it went past 8 and still no sign arriving late he simply told us to follow him I don't know his name as no introduction just a oldish man we proceed after paying and after few jokes. the story's seemed to go on for ages and I lost interest...
