Owner description: The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation believed to be the first in the world. We promise a unique opportunity to discover the hidden magic of our ancient City through the real art of storytelling. Tales are drawn from the immense history of York and are told against a backdrop of haunting beauty. We walk in the very footsteps of those who have passed before.

The guide was a typical dour yorkshireman, knowledgable, entertaining, informative and the for the cost and length of the tour it certainly was excellent value for money

The walk was worth so much more than the £5 paid. The guide was possibly the best bit, a true actor, who really made the stories come alive. Visited approx 5 locations with various stories to suit all ages. Would encourage all who want a cheap, entertaining evening and to know more about York to give it a try.

This is the perfect ghost walk if you are looking for an authentic experience. The stories are genuine, chilling and thoroughly interesting. There are no gimmicks on this tour and they are not needed! A great guide with a voice made for storytelling!

Back in the area, staying with my parents. I tagged onto this walk by chance, having time to kill before the next bus... Glad I did! I believe the tour guide was Mark Graham, a Yorkshire man who speaks with a quiet conviction and a wry sense of humour. There were no gimmicks, props or embarrassing bouts of audience participation.... More

Fantastically, enthralling guide telling tales of Historic York and it's ghostly happenings... Captivating stories, and got to see parts of York we'd never seen before... Well worth the £5 for adults... A must do in York!

Nobody asked us for any money, so I'm rating this five stars for value! However, if I had paid I would have gone lower because there was little atmosphere and the tour guide was more often telling us about his neighbour rather than the actual old ghost stories.

We were shown around York by Raymond who really knew how to tell a tale. There must have been over 100 in the group, which shows the popularity of this tour. The tales were excellent and really built up atmosphere. It was great to listen to the spooky tales of the historic city of York. The tour was not played... More

In several instances the stories told were not actually about the places where we were standing but were about things which had taken place in other areas of York or even Yorkshire. It was a perfect evening for the walk but there was no spooky atmosphere created by our leader and I found myself wanting to leave before the end.

We found this tour online & found that in emailing the site very quick & polite response. We then took the tour a few days before Halloween, a busy time for ghosts.
