Very pleasant and helpful plant sales area, with play facliities (mini golf and croquet) and a very popular little cafe. Plenty of choice, and many outside tables (don't sit inside unless you like saunas!) We had tea and homemade strawberry cake on this visit, but the cooked food is just as good.

Stopped off here to look at the garden centre and decided on cream scones and tea from the cafe. Service was almost instant, order taken, teas prepared and served by friendly staff. Very fresh and tasty scone with cream and raspberry jam, excellent. The setting is very good with indoor and outdoor seating including on the river bank and in... More

Turn left from the A169 onto the B1410 Ruswarp road at the foot of the bank as you enter Sleights, and you'll quickly find the River Gardens Cafe combined with Perrys Plants. There is ample parking, and the setting really is idyllic. First enjoy a drink or light meal as you sit literally by the riverside and just take in... More

First time at the River Gardens but definitely not the last. Excellent poached eggs next to the river Esk...watched ducks and saw and heard the steam trains of the NYMR. Idyllic. Garden centre was very good value and the staff informative. Lots of parking and places to sit while watching putting or croquet. A great place for those less mobile.

What an alround lovely place to spend a few hours. The garden with a mini golf and croquet were so pleasant with ample seating for my elderly parents. The garden centre was a delight and one of the cheapest we have been to. Although the choice of plants is now limited due to the time of year we still came... More

A lovely place with something for everyone, unusual plants at very reasonable prices, croquet lawn and putting green, shady benches or tables by the river. Food was lovely with lots of choice. Crab sandwiches are delicious, so is the salmon salad, cakes look good but we opted for ice cream cones as it was so hot. A really nice place... More
