There is a strange setup within the church, individual pews and very old.Steeped in history.Work constantly going on as the area subject to subsidence, but the church and its churchyard wonderful. Lovely place to simply chill out and enjoy the wonderful views and due to the location photos turn out amazingly well-the scenery is so good.

You don't have to be religious to enjoy a visit to this fascinating little church with it's many interesting nooks and crannies and fascinating things to look at. The nave, bathed in jewelled sunlight from its beautiful stained glass windows is so peaceful and there are many ancient monuments to see. The atmosphere really puts you in touch with Whitby's... Very historic and beautiful building and the surrounding graveyard is steeped in history. Just goes to show how many poor souls drowned at sea whilst out fishing and whaling and how mortality rates have changed throughout the years. Though I did come across one person who died when they reached 109 in the 1800's

Came here on the way back from the abbey. It's a lovely little church and very interesting. The guide in the shop was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It doesn't cost anything to go in, just give a donation. It's well worth a visit.

kids thought it was great to find dracula's grave, and the 199 steps to climb to get to it, lovely little cobble roads in Whitby Town with lovely shops. This little town caters young and old. Shops are very pet friendly too

This church is always a rewarding place to visit, with the interior full of great little details - some quirky but all unusual. It appears that the pews have been installed wherever they would fit - all different shapes and sizes and at all levels, while the centrally positioned stove is a "must-have" feature during the winter. There have been... More

Most people climb the 199 steps to pay their fee and visit the Abbey, we didn't have time for we spent our time exploring the most interesting church i have ever visited. It is living history in that there have not been that many changes in the last 100 years but it is a fully functioning parish church. The staff... More

This church is real gem with some handsome box pews, an amazing three decker pulpit and a Victorian stove for heating the place. There were plenty of people walking around admiring the inside of the church and with so much to see it complements the starker and much larger Whitby Abbey nearby. We did expect this place to full of... More

this is a beautiful ancient church that unfortunatley is at risk from erosion. There are unusual walled pews. The pulpit is very high so the vicar can observe everyone.! although a busy church it was very peaceful.
