As everyone will tell you, its a really good climb up the hill to the church, you really have to want to go there. We did and found the friendly volunteers helpful, the church itself is well presented, lots of printed information adjacent to items of interest. Super views over Whitby, though the cliffs 'slipping' away is a little worrying,... More

The church was open and very friendly voluntary donations welcome the staff were very informative lots of history to the place the enclosed pews were forgotten about and not removed like others during the Victorian era well worth going into not just your usual local church see where Captin Cook worshiped though the Abbey gets all the publicity St Mary's... This looks to be fairly modern but has a fair history. It is unusual and has many features of interest to a church historian like me.

Lovely historical church with a triple level pulpit by Whitby Abbey ruins. Even the land slide in the graveyard didn't deter.

This Saxon/ Norman Church is a gem with it's box pews, three tier pulpit and galleries this church is unique. You don't have to be religeous to visitor or pay if you don't want to! The staff are fiendly and very knowledgable in the local history. If you want to know about the secret crypt or want to see the... More

This has unusual and interesting box pews and a three tier pulpit. It also has a memorial to a local lifeboat disaster in the entrance. Unfortunately much of the churchyard is currently fenced off because it has been eroding and falling down the cliff. Caedmon's cross is fortunately on the safer part of the churchyard and so is still able... More

Its a very old quaint church, well worth a visit. Some of the gravestones in the churchyard are very old indeed.

Unusual interior. Take a look and see what I mean, Part of the graveyard is unfortunately collapsing over the cliff after last years heavy rains!

Love this church, go via the 199 steps not as bad as it looks. The gravestones are very interesting to read, some very sad ones.

A Victorian church with box pews with the names of families on. A large three tier pulpit, with the vicars wife's ear trumpets still in situ.
