Great little Church with a view to really impress, old graveyard with many old stone headstones and a great view of the harbour and piers. Climbed the 199 steps but really worth it.

When going to Whitby you must visit this church and graveyard. Both hold so much history and really take you back in time. The views from the yard are stunning. A must if you are also going to the Abbey.

It's clear from the notices around the church that visitors always ask the same questions. Dracula never visited either, according to the sign in the nave. It's a shame that people don't appreciate this church more for its unique interiors (it still has its original box pews carrying instructions on who could sit where). Well worth a visit.

I visited Whitby a lot as a child and haven't been back since and couldn't wait to climb the 199 steps- I never get the number right which just makes me more keen to go again. Lovely atmosphere in the church and interesting layout/design. Whitby is a beautiful place to visit but this is it's shining beacon.

This is a lovely and unusual church. It's also a living place of worship - not a museum. Even if you aren't religious, there is a wonderful spirit about the place, not to mention it's history, architecture and unique position on the Whitby headland. Don't miss it!

This was the first time that we had been into the church though we are a regular Whitby visitors, what a treat! We were welcomed by a lovely lady who told us a bit about the history and then went to look around, what a surprise! despite visiting many churches in the past I was not prepared for what I... More

A beautiful old church at the top of the steps when you are headed to Whitby Abbey. You can walk through, make a donation for upkeep, and see the graveyard. It is especially interesting at twilight, looking out toward the ocean.

You must visit this church! It is one of the few remaining churches that is complete with original box pews. The staff were happy to pass on their extensive knowledge.
