Now the wife and I are not great walkers/hikers but having decided to go to the Yorkshire Dales you are obliged to do some walking or see very little, our walk from Airton to Malham Cove was a little over 2 miles, through quiet fields following the Pennine Way and the river Aire to its source at Malham Cove, a... What an experience! If you are a fit walker, this is a real treat. It is part of Pennine Way and it has stunning, magnificent views. What is there to say. Just that all our family had a great very special time and we highly recommend the place!

Spent a day walking around Malham visiting Janet's Foss, Goredale Scar, Malham Tarn and the Cove with its limestone pavement - amazing - so beautiful. Wonderful views all around and the geology leaves you speechless. Sadly we didn't see the peregrines which are nesting at the Cove. There's a National Park Visitor Centre in Malham itself with a car park... More

As a rock climber I have never failed to be stunned by the scenery in North Yorkshire. There are many walks that take in interesting limestone features - crags, caves and water - available to walkers of all abilities. Try 'Shortish walks in the 3 peaks' (Whinray books).

We walked from Malham village after parking in the car park (£4.50 for a day ticket) to the cove. Absolutely beautiful scenery on the way, then the steep climb up the steps to the top onto the limestone pavement provided us with wonderful views. We then walked along the dry river bed towards Malham tarn, and as it came into... More

What a little find! A stunning village with beautiful walking routes, very friendly locals (I even bonded with a week old little lamb named Matthew). Kids thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the magnificent cove. Loved it!

Malham Cove is a beautiful area of limestone scenery that is well worth a visit. It's an 80m high 300m wide dry waterfall with a resurgent spring at the foot of the cove. A 1km accessible, crushed, limestone path takes you to the foot of the cove. Mobility scooters can be hired for a small fee (£4 I think). There... More

Stopped off in Malham with the kids and after finding a park in the village (even in the off season it was still quite busy) and the short walk to the cove face we headed up the stairs to the left and up to the limestone pavements. Just amazing. Walking on the pavement and looking back at the views was... More

A nice day walk on a loop from Settle in good weather taking in Attermire, Pikedaw and the Cove returning via the gentler climb to Pikedaw. Parking at Malham is often overcrowded spoiling an otherwise pleasant place. Out of season a walk from the NP car park over the cove, across to Gordale and back via Jannets Foss can be... More
