Fab for meeting friends

Lovely cosy little bar with outside area, excellent selection of real ales and quality lagers, not the generic rubbish. Super selection of snacks, all round lovely ambience.

Love it when I can visit the Playhouse to see all my favourite comedians. The Playhouse has a really good atmosphere and is small and friendly. Great bar for a pre show drink and easy website to book your tickets.

Pleasant and friendly small theatre. Good views of the stage. Fairly comfortable seats. Quirky choice of productions which are affordably priced, encouraging experimentation.

The theatre is well located next to the river and has a superb bar with a great atmosphere. The theatre was a nice size ( 500/600?) and had great acoustics which helped create a good atmosphere. Will definitely go back there particularly for another comedy night.

Love this play! Often come here to see a play or a comedian and always have a great night. I love the authenticity of the place and the great choice of drinks available. Whether it be a yummy cider in the evening or a fruity tea on a cold afternoon. Always a pleasant experience with lovely polite staff and never... More

I prefer to see an act like a stand up comedian here, rather than in a large theatre. It's more casual and a 'no frills' type of venue, but the seats provide a great view of the stage. We have recently seen Milton Jones, and Henning Wehn and really enjoyed both evenings. I can't really comment on the bar as... More

This a venue with good views of the stage from all the seats. The acoustics are good so this part of the venue gets very good marks. What brings it down are the bar seems to be part of the student facilities for the art college on the other side of the river and the lack of toilet facilities to... More

Great small venue where you can get close to the stage and watch some of the best acts you will see. Many comedians come here to try out their new acts so their are some big names who play here. Prices are reasonable for the shows and the bar is a good cosy place for a drink or sit outside... More

Lovely little theatre. Good view even at the front. We went to see both shows yesterday, when we booked we were lucky enough to get seats in the first row and then the second row. Sound and lighting very good - well done to the theatre backstage team. The bar is surprising - good prices and staff. Interesting ceiling -... More
