I was impressed by the quality of the installation in the courtyard of Somerset House. Everything goes smoothly, you can enjoy your time on the ice quietly, with a small area dedicated to children. You need to book before going but it's definitely worth it. You have to skate at least once in Somerset House!

They cheap out on the Zamboni and the ice rink is small. The museum is half free half special exhibits requiring admissions fees. Night club skates are expensive, but the day time skates are more affordable. The skates are average quality bauers that are comfortable but a bit too dull (based on the pairs my friends and I had tried).... More

A great evening out, the Christmas decorations were fantastic, its like stepping into a different world. Ice rink for everyone! Its also a great work out, and you can enjoy mulled wine or a hot chocolate after or before you skate :)

We had a blast spending the night skating in the ice rink. There were pink lights and music, it was a great plan for an evening!

Went there beginning of December with some colleagues. As soon as we entered the first entrance I was soooooo excited. The lovely Xmas tree at the entrance and the buildings around the ice ring give a really special atmosphere to the whole thing! Very well organised, with people to help you if you fall down, they clean the ice every... More

Just before Christmas, my friends and I wanted to do something fun so we bought tickets to go skating in Somerset House Ice Rink. What a stunning setting! A huge Christmas tree to give you the Christmas-y vibe. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was my second attempt at skating and I held on for dear life! At least I made... More

It's a beautiful location to watch the ice skating with the big Christmas tree. If you're here at Christmas and it's dark. You have to go, just to watch for free. If you want to pay to skate, then you can. I wrongly assumed it was simple enough to just try and ice skate. Clearly not. Either I had dodgy... More

We visited the last week of November for an ice skating slot. We checked our bags in (you get a ticked to collect these after your session has finished) and got our skates on. The setting is lovely and got us in the Christmas spirit! All of the Christmas lights were beautiful! Atmosphere was perfect! We did not stay the... More

I went here on the 2nd January, the rink is too of a good size. I got my skates quickly as well. After a bit of waiting while the ice was smoothed out everyone was allowed on. I noticed a smaller rink attached to the main one, as I'm rubbish at ice skating I stuck to this rink for a... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
