I had been to the Open Air Theatre in Regent's park before, in the early 70s but this time it seemed very different. There is a lot of stadium type seating, all with an excellent view of the stage. Behind the stage is a curtain of mature trees which gives the venue an intimate feel. The sound quality was excellent... More

We saw a wonderful performance of Porgy and Bess at the Open Air Theatre . We agreed completely with the complimentary reviews in the Press and had the same reservations about the set ! The singing was excellent and the production very clever with the use of a few tables and chairs to represent so many parts of the story... More

Recently attended an evening performance that was very good, if not entrancing. The set was somewhat strange and it is hard to see how it related to Catfish Row but maybe it worked anyway. The cast was good and we had an enjoyable evening, not least because the rain stopped about 30 minutes before the performance began.

First time of visiting this theatre even though growing up was only living 14 miles from London, Oh my what have we been missing! It was fantastic and well done to cast who must have felt the cold as we did, but on a lovely warm Summer Night must be really beautiful, has not put us off though and will... More

'Porgy and Bess' deserves its four star newspaper reviews. The acting, singing and dancing are powerful in what is a tremendous ensemble effort. Seldom have I seen some detailed direction and characterisation of even the smallest parts. All voices soar, the Porky and Bess giving their all - and wonderfully. The weaknesses are in the meaningless huge beaten bronze backdrop... More

The production of Porgy & Bess at the Open Air Theatre was wonderful, cast and the singing were superb. Great afternoon organized a picnic hamper before the show which was great including lovely bottle of wine. Had a brilliant afternoon in the sunshine watching a truly wonderful performance of Porgy and Bess and the odd glass of wine. Already booked... More

Every year I come to the Open Air Theatre at least once. Last night we saw Porgy and Bess. This was wonderful - it's only on a few more days so catch it while you can. It's then replaced by to Kill a Mockingbird which I saw last year, and shouldn't be missed. The skies did open last night in... More

I'd been here years ago to see A Midsummer Night's Dream and didn't enjoy the experience. But, many years later, I was back with my partner to see an anniversay screening of Goldfinger. I'm not a James Bond fan, but he is. Queues at the bar were long, only two people behind the bar. Most had brought their own booze,... More
