Have just been to see The Hobbit, second part in the Trilogy, at BFI iMax. What an experience! The film was terrific and although some 160 minutes in length it held you spellbound, can't wait for the 3rd and final part at the end of 2014. Second film we have seen here, we saw Les Miserables a while ago, and... More

The huge screen does not compensate for a lack of doors in the ladies toilets. Honestly - what is is a third world country? This is London! You pay for a ticket, go to the centre of one of the richest countries in the world and surprise surprise - you have a choice: a cubical with no door at all,... More

The Imax is conveniently situated close to Waterloo station and the Southbank, and it's well worth the cost to see a special 3D film on a huge screen. 3D glasses are provided. I've seen 'Jurassic Park 3D', 'Gravity' and 'The Desolation of Smaug' there recently and thoroughly enjoyed them. Get seats as high up / near the back as possible.... More

A trip to this IMAX is a treat for my film buff son, & I really enjoy the experience myself, of course! We have at least an hours travelling to visit this IMAX when our local, perfectly adequate but non IMAX cinema is 5 minutes from our front door. The current "must see in IMAX" was The Hobbit 2 &... Went to see the new Hobbit film at the Imax, and it was a great experience, the only downside was we could only get 2nd row, so we felt a bit dizzy after, and you have to sink down in your seat as the screen in way above your line of vision, and so big you can't see all the... More

Odeon have bought the BFI IMAX and set about a cynical downgrade of everything in sight. From the cafe, which used to serve well-made, thoughtful food and is now a low-grade Costa farting out gunge-filled diabetes treats, to toilets without locks (or, apparently, cleaners) and staff who, when they can bring themselves to look at you, are prone to barking... Went to see Thor:The Dark World and was well impressed by the film and the IMAX experience, both the sound and visuals quality were excellent. Get your booking sorted early and that way you should have a good choice of seat, as others have said it's better to be screen-central and towards the back. The staff here are very helpful... More

We went here to see a 'one night only' showing and I'm glad we did. Great experience and the IMAX certainly makes it something different. Certainly worth getting seats a few rows back or make sure you stretch your neck first!

IMAX is worth a go as it does deliver a unique cinema experience. However, you should pick your film, and preferably your seat, with care. Sit as far back as possible and towards the centre of the screen if you can. There is a trade-off between having the screen cover your entire field of vision (which is good) against seeing... More

If you're off to see a movie in London, go here. I would recommend the seats a few rows below the premium seats. You still won't need to strain your neck and the screen will cover a larger part of your field of vision. Oh, and they also have a bar.
