We visit this pub to meet up with mates around 1 or 2 times a year. Beers are good, the atmosphere is packed but friendly and it's always really busy at the bar and you're lucky to get a seat. Go next door to the Italian eatery for food afterwards that's good too.

Good old fashioned proper pub. The menu is simple but done well. Good range of well kept beers. Including some london which is a bonus.

Myself and 4 friends turned up for the pub quiz on a Sunday night, while ordering foor the staff were rude, unwelcoming and difficult. We ate and left without partaking in the quiz. The vegetarian option wasn't as described, and the waitress was followed by the landlord as they must have preempted our concern. The Landlord was then curt and... More

Once you force traffic into an organically evolved place like London, it enables travel at a faster speed than the streets were intended to allow. Side streets were by-passed creating this jewel in the crown, born in 1729 and even since re-modernised, it is unusual to see that much of the Victorian features remain, especially the Snob Screens which allowed... Although never having eaten here, there appears to be a lot of people enjoying their Sunday lunch. On Friday night the place is very busy and they now have quite a few guest beers. I have been drinking Youngs beers for quite a long time and although it is still quite nice, since being taken over by Wells, the taste... More

Decent selection and good range of unusual draughts (Adnams, Young's). Upper restaurant was closed when we were there around 10 on a Thursday night. Not very many guests at all, but I kind of like empty English pubs. You feel at ease. I like the interior - even an old phonograph (or something like that whatever it is called). I... More

We are tourists and we are staying near this pub. After a long day walking around London, we thought about stopping there to have a pint, me and my wife, and some fresh still water my two children, of 15 and 9 , There were some free tables and, after one quarter trying to get someone to serve us, a... I frankly can't understand the previous lukewarm reviews of this pub. It's a lovely characterful pub which is always full of people (locals and tourists alike). If it was as poor as the previous reviews say, why do so many people keep coming back? The selection of quality beer available on my visit was comprehensive (craft bitter and larger), and... More

Staying nearby and wanting to try a local pub, we stopped at Lamb's for dinner and were rewarded with pretty good pub food with pleasant service. There is dining outside in front and in back and a good selection of food and drink. A bit crowded with "drinkers" but pleasant nevertheless.

...aware of this pub's reputation and history, I was expecting more. We met friends for lunch here as it was handy for the British Museum. The interior of the pub is very traditional with much mahogony and etched glass, but the overall impression is that it is in need of some (sympathetic) refurbishment. There is a good choice of real... More
