Went to see the Commitments in the £10 cheapo seats, right at the very top of the Theater. Before we went to our seats we were given a voucher by one of the ushers and told we could upgrade our seats for another £10. Naaaa we thought but on going to our seats my wife was frozen ridged by the... More

Try and get there a bit earlier if you want an alcoholic drink from the bar as it does get busy, the bar staff will take an additional order for your drinks which you can collect at the interval.

I had never been to the London Theater District. It was a madhouse! Got tickets to The Commitments at TKTS. The show was great and the theater was nice if a little cramped. Would recommend the show and theater both.

First of all, let me just say that the Commitments show was pretty good, but got a little tiring after you had to participate in clapping along per instruction by the actors, for several minutes! Plus, if you're visiting from America- be warned: the front row seats on the balcony, are TINY! My knees accidentally smacked some poor woman in... More

During a trip to London, with a free evening to fill, we visited the Palace for a performance of 'The Commitments' after buying the tickets last thing at the kiosk in Leicester Square. In the middle of the dress circle, a perfect view. The staff were helpful, the seats clean and well maintained. The usual overpriced ice creams and bar... More

Had a great time, but do be aware there is NO leg room in the first row balcony. My two teen sons, at six feet each, were practically sitting with their knees up to their chins. I ended up with a sore ankle for days afterwards from trying to accommodate my feet in the cramped space. The show, The Commitments,... More

We saw The Commitments here in the first weekend of November. The fabulous red brick theater built in the 1880’s is filled with beautiful period details which hint at it’s beginning as London’s Royal Grand Opera House. The interior plaster work and wall details, especially the ceilings are quite amazing and shine after a restoration 1989 for the exterior and... More

I was recently in London on a holiday weekend and looking for a theater ticket last minute. Went to TKTS Leicester Square and they had only 3 shows. I hadn't heard much about The Commitments but took a chance. What a great surprise! The music is such fun, soul hits from the 60's and 70's. The actors/singers are amazing, and... More

Brilliant show, superb cast and what singing. Theatre a little cramped but the show is amazing. The theatre needs a re vamp as seats have very little leg room.

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
