Went to Barbarians vs Samoa rugby match - a change from Twickenham. Was OK as a venue, but didn't have the atmosphere as when Olympics/Paraolympics staged or compared to Twickenham. Disappointed at range of food available, and draught pints would have been welcome. Holes, presumably for collapsing seating makes stadium look unfinished. Hopefully once building works in area are complete,... More

Like other reviews on the rugby event, I was disappointed at the level of catering. Very expensive beer and pies - both of which ran out at various dispensing points around the stadium. the one food outlet close to the ground had to shut the kitchen for 30 ins to "process all the orders"....... Very little atmosphere - not helped... More

I went to the Olympic Stadium for the first time last weekend, to see the Barbarians vs Samoa rugby match. The stadium wasn't full (about 40,000 people there though) but what a fabulous venue! The ongoing work was evident, but nonetheless we were impressed by seating leg room (not great, but better than Twickenham!) and the provision of bars and... More

We were privileged to watch the first ever rugby match at this venue between The Barbarians v Samoa and thought the venue was superb. The seats were padded and the view of the pitch was excellent. The only negative was the food and drink prices - £5.00 for a pie and similarly inflated prices for drinks.

We went there for the first ever rugby match on Saturday and enjoyed most of the experience apart from the bar service near the Acermittal Tower which was simply abysmal. The sprinkler system's malfunction was amusing rather than disruptive and we will go back again but will use the bars in the stadium rather than in the park.

I attended the Barbarians v Samoa rugby world cup test event on 29 August. It’s fair to say that more work is required before they get to the serious business of hosting a “real” game. Firstly the staff, as good as they were, need to know the stadium a lot better than they did at this event. Firstly the gates... More

I arrived and got in easily at 13.10 turnstyle J. It had a new ground feel about the place, not surprising, as it was. Real Ale bars all round the ground, but they did run out, although the bottles & pints of lager were still being sold. New Staff behind the bars were very slow. Nice stadium inside, althoug very... I am in agreement with the sentiments expressed by others having attended the game on Saturday. The new stadium has good views etc but will struggle for atmosphere. having attended all the England games in France 8 years ago the beer tents and rugby villages around the stadia created a great atmosphere and a feeling of togetherness for the rugby... We had a great time watching the first ever Rugby game between Barbarians and Samoa, brilliant seats, although they were dirty and not cleaned before people entered the stadium, the gates were meant to open at 1pm but almost 20 minutes later still waiting to get in, really not good enough, helpful staff, match day programme was a very good... Really enjoyed the Barbarians vs Samoa match with mates, it will be a great venue for the RWC and the West Ham next season but I am amazed after 3 years that it still isn't finished! I was really pleased to see a number of real ale 'bars', basically small stands with 3 or 4 barrels with 2 choices of... More
