Having spent time in the local area on family matters we decided to finally visit for a couple of hours before heading home. What a surprise a genuine 5* location of Art Deco house, Elizabethan Hall and extensive gardens. An English Heritage site so if you pick up one of their joining offers one visit to Eltham Palace can offset... More

It is much away from the usual tourist route, it is south of Grenwich and after the tube you must take a bus and take a long walk. The gardens are stunning, the building is very attractive and also has interactive points where you can interact with the elements of the museum. And maybe a ghost could also be your... More

Art Deco and pre-Tudor architecture combine to create this fascinating palace and home. Latterly Eltham Palace was the home of the fabulously wealthy Courtaulds who entertained lavishly in between their lengthy cruising around the world. They had an Art Deco wing added to the magnificent great hall where Henry VIII entertained (who was raised mainly at Eltham) and wantonly allowed... More

The house is unique. It was built by a millionaire in the 1930's. The outside was designed to blend in with the remaining part of the medieval Eltham Palace, which was the Great Hall. The inside is a glamorous Art Deco showpiece which was built to impress and still does. You are offered a superb audio visual guide which takes... More

The house and the gardens are so lovely. Well organised with personal information technology to see the rooms as you wish. There is a film of the Courtauld family in the 1930's, the house is Art Deco and really interesting. The gardens are so lovingly tended and peaceful. The Orangery is lovely to have a drink & lunch. If ever... More

I visited Eltham palace and garden during my second visit to london in July 2015. My fascination towards country side historical sites took me to this place . As I was staying in docklands ,this place was much suitable for a day visit . Nearest railway station to eltham is either Mottingham or Eltham . I took south western train... More

Even for a confirmed modernist this was a treat! It's quite easy to get to by rail and then a short well signposted stroll. The headline price looks a bit steep but it includes a (generally) instructive audio guide. As we spent 3 hours there, including the garden, it was a nice day, we felt it was good value. Much... It was a bit pricey at £14 each, but once inside and you see the fantastic Art Deco interior of the house you really dont mind as you know it will go to restoring more of the buildings. The huge medieval hall is just awesome. gardens are lovely to wander about in and we were there on one of the... More

Having read some of the previous one and two star reviews we can only say to go and visit it again. The Art Deco interior is truly stunning and the audio visual guide gives a great idea of how the Cavendish family used it. The gardens are not extensive but there are plenty of grounds to wander round. The café... More
