If you're in the area and have an interest in the Crystal Palace and its sad demise (or Victorian London in general) then this little museum (decidedly 'old school') is definitely worth a visit. This won't take long - it's just a large room but it houses lots of interesting stuff and information. Can be combined with a walk around... More

As small and understated as the original Palace was grand and flamboyant, this museum packs a lot in and really brings the story of the CP to life. There's a good selection of (small) artefacts, cuttings and information boards and there were knowledgeable enthusiasts available to answer questions. The museum was free and we were very happy to make a... More

Was very disappointed in this, was at the end of a long 6 mile walk and a simple question about whether or not they had any refreshments was met with ridicule.

If visiting Crystal Palace Park on a weekend, it is worthwhile to visit this little museum prior to strolling the park grounds. Open only on weekends, this small one-room museum provides information on the history of the Crystal Palace at its rebuilt site here in South London, from its opening in 1854 to its fiery destruction in 1936. A visit... More

Visited many times as a member of the public and also used as part of an educational workshop for many of my classes over the years. Very interesting.

Having lived locally for years, and having come to Crystal Palace park as kids, we spent the day re-discovering the area again as 'grown ups.' This museum became a perfect part of our stroll around, giving me a real insight into the Crystal Palace history. The photos and stories really brought to life a place that I'd always thought I... anyone with an interest in how Great Britain spearheaded globalisation during the reign of Queen Victoria should pop into this little gem of a museum. It is very simple with show cases of newsprint from that era, and a short video. it is sad that the palace has burnt down. being the first example of a "flat pack" building and... More

This is the smallest museum I’ve even seen; it takes about 30 minutes to look around. It’s worth a visit even if you are not local (it is only 2 minute walk from Crystal Palace train station). It was interesting to learn that the Palace (initially constructed in Hyde Park in 1851) was redesigned and rebuilt on Sydenham Hill within... More
