For nearly sixteen years between 1757 and 1775, Dr Benjamin Franklin - scientist, diplomat, philosopher, inventor, Founding Father of the United States and more - lived behind its doors. The Historical Experience presents the excitement and uncertainty of Franklin's London years using his historic rooms as staging for a drama which seamlessly integrates live performance, cutting edge lighting, sound and projection technology. « less

Fond of History, architecture and art this place has fulfilled many of my expectations. I knew little about the American war of independence and indeed about Franklin. This boutique museum gives you a good and thorough insight into both and really teases you to discover more. There are so many aspects of Franklin’s life that has shape and still have... More

I'd been meaning to go to the Benjamin Franklin House since I stumbled upon it while trying to get a visa at a nearby embassy. It was closed the day I found it, but I was determined to come back. I did one Sunday a few weeks later with teen girls in tow. I suppose I expected the typical old... More

We could not understand why there were timed visits and you could not just wander around, but it became apparent after we took the tour. I now know more about Ben Franklin than ever before and it was a very enjoyable tour. Highly recommended. More

We really enjoyed the visit to Benjamin Franklin's London home. In our time, a BBC R4 programme had taken him as a subject the previous week, and so I suspect the full house may have been unusual and related to this. The program can be heard as a podcast by the way. The house is a Grade I listed building,... More

The Benjamin Franklin House is not easy to find. I tried to locate it on a previous visit, but it was not evident where the House was. On this subsequent visit, we put finding the House on project status. We started at Trafalgar Square, however, there were no signs indicating where the Benjamin Franklin House was. Instead, I would recommend... More

Quite an interesting time we had at the Benjamin Franklin resident in London. We stopped in after a London Walks tour about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes. The Ben Franklin house is up the alley from the Sherlock Holmes Pub so we walked up to see. We expected it to be like most houses turned into museums, a... More

I can see why some previous reviewers didn't enjoy visiting here, the rooms of the house have almost nothing in them. What you do get is an interesting interactive presentation, an actress in period dress assumes the role of his housekeeper and the audio is such that she engages in conversation with Franklin while images are projected and she leads... I did not know what to expect when I read the description for the Benjamin Franklin House, tucked on a surprisingly quiet street just steps away from bustling and touristy Trafalgar Square. The presentation's format--live interpretation by a professional actress who interacts with the superb audiovisuals--gives an amazingly intimate view of Benjamin Franklin's life in London pre-American Revolution. I came... More

This unusual Historical House transported me and my family to a diferent time. The house is preserved as it would of been when Ben lived there. A simple interior *(no funiture) that shows what life was like for the working class Geogian London. It is a independent Museum totaly supported by there own effords to preserve a part of History... Nice to visit if time permits. Allows the feeling of a trip back in time and provides an interesting dimension of Franklin's life that American's don't typically hear. More
