I attended the How to Use Your Digital Camera course on Sat 18th April. I chose it because it was suitable for bridge cameras (like mine) as well as DSLRs, the reviews were good, and because you got to go out and actually do the things you were learning about. When I arrived at the coffee shop where we met,... More

I loved this tour - the route was packed with different landmarks, buildings and stunning monuments. It was my first visit to London and I was really pleased that I booked the Essential London Photography tour as it took in many of the areas I wanted to photograph, eg, Trafalgar Square, Westminster and Piccadilly. The photographer, Lou Smith arrived on... More

As a keen amateur photographer I recently booked the London for Women private Photography tour with Lou Smith. It was a great day! Lou is a great instructor and she took time to find out my abilities as a photographer and my goals for the day. She then provided me with a series of assignments and photo opportunities . At... I participated in Portraits, For Women Only, Creative Seeing, and Street Photography. Lou Smith was the instructor for each one and she is an excellent teacher. In her quiet and gentle way, she reassures those nervous about their level of expertise, explains concepts, sets interesting and challenging exercises to develop them, and makes everyone feel included and good about their... I really enjoyed the South Bank Photo Tour. The South Bank is an amazing place to photograph - and in the run up to Christmas it was packed with brightly coloured stalls. Lou, the tutor, has great ideas and showed me new techniques which I tried out and received immediate feedback. The group was small - 5 on the day... More

I learned so much on the Essential London Photography Tour - I'm sure with my new found knowledge my photography will come on in leaps and bounds. I particularly found the 'finding the light', reflections and using histograms very useful, and will put into practice the great tips Lou gave me. It was wonderful to be guided around London by... The London photography tour was a great way to explore London and improve my photography. Lou is a terrific teacher - enthusiastic and knowledgeable, with lots of great ideas. I was lucky to be in a small group - there was only one other person in my group, a charming woman from Russia. So we had a lot of fun.... More

I had a one-to-one 'Creative Seeing Workshop' with Lou and LOVED it!!! She is so knowledgeable, patient and inspiring, that she's changed the way I see locations forever. She's opened my eyes and helped me produce results like never before. I can recommend this workshop to people of ALL abilities as Lou can pitch to any audience. If it's to... More

I came to the Creative Seeing Workshop with a Canon 7D DSLR after six months of seriously studying photography. My photos tended to be technically good but without that "wow!" factor. By the end of the workshop, I was amazed at how many great photos I had. The difference between the ones I took using old habits and the ones... More

I really enjoyed the South Bank Photography Tour. Right at the start the tutor put us all at our ease and demonstrated how to set up our cameras for the photo tour. I learned lots of new things about shutter speed, aperture and ISO. We were also shown how to discover interesting angles of view to improve composition. The location... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
