Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

The Bodyguard was gobsmacking. I totally enjoyed my experience and would see it again a million times. The songs were fantastic and catchy, the band was fantastic and Fletcher (played by Mark Jones) blew me away. (Beverly Knight )Rachel Marron and (Carol Stennet) Nikki Marron were equally stunning. This is a must see show. It definitely is the best show in... More

This theater is nice because it is used for many different shows. Depending on when you are in the area, something different will be playing. I go the chance to see "Who's Line is it Anyway?" and it was great! The prices are very reasonable as well. TIP: In the beginning, skip the bar in the front and go inside... More

we had seats in row P and we had a perfect view of the stage for Whose Line is it Anyway. We could hear really well also. The seats were comfortable. The only downside was the price of the wine! A little bottle for £8!!

Good air conditioning, great views from the stalls, and staff were nice. Efficient bar staff. Shame (as per usual) ladies loos were lacking in number, and the hand drier had stopped working by the interval.

Saw Whose Line Is It Anyway here and the show was great, even though Clive Anderson wasn't able to appear. My only gripe was that a bottle of house white wine was 27 pound. Other theatres in the area we've been to charge closer to 20 pound
