Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

I attended to see Made in Dagenham the musical (matinee show) it being my first London Theatre visit. I was so impressed the venue was clean and staff welcoming. The show was great I enjoyed every second captured by the content, the mind blowing scenery bringing back child hood memories of those air fix model kits you got as a... More

Fantastic Saturday Matinee. Catchy songs along with a great story based on fact. Some laugh out loud moments especially the American Ford bosses Musical Number! Please see it if you can before it closes far to early in April.

I went to see "Made in Dagenham" at this theatre recently. Its a lovely place, in the art deco style. It is a nice size, but our stall seats had some restricted views.

Went along with a friend to see Made in Dagenham before it closes in April (what a shame). We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience with great costumes, props and songs. Loved the ambience of this bijou theatre.

A small House for 'Made in Dagenham' upgraded our seats from the Upper Circle to Dress Circle but scores were also re-assigned on arival. This meant the foyer quickly filled to bursting & we had to wait outside for 10 minutes whilst the staff tried to handle the situation - numerous customers were less than happy as they had paid... Dear hildenley, Thank you for your review, and for telling us about your experience when you visited the Adelphi Theatre on 25th March 2015. The reason the foyer was very busy prior to this performance was actually a combination of a large number of early arrivals for the matinee performance, plus our facilitation of a touch-tour inside the auditorium for... It has been a few years since I have seen a show at this theatre. I love the art deco, but not to keen on the stairs. A great place to see a show. made in Dagenham was a great experience, it is true to say that I enjoyed the performance from start to finish. Some great song, and after... More

This was all part of my husband's huge big-O birthday celebrations, a treat from our daughter. We loved the music and the scenery - what a brainwave to have giant grey Airfix model sheets as the main idea. We loved it and the cast were superb. I've noticed that one contributer called it "dated". Doh! - it was the 1970s!... More

Well produced and acted, great singing and music, There were some really good cameo roles. All in all a fantastic show. The sound and stage setting were excellent. We were in Row D in the stalls, just the right place to see everything. Go and see it before it closes

We watched this show on a Saturday Evening and were sat on the front row which we were a bit worried would be too close to the front, in fact it wasn't and we felt really up close to the action! The cast were excellent as others have said, the songs very catchy and a really funny and feel good... More
