Owner description: Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

I love a good musical my husband is no so keen and he really loved this show. The music and songs are good but it is one of the funniest shows I have seen. It is very different from the film although the premise is the same and makes for a good show. We got tickets at short notice and... More

As I'm not usually a great fan of musical theatre I was absolutely surprised and delighted that Made In Dagenhan was so brilliant! Especially being a matinee when the entire audience were on their feet at the end for a well deserved standing ovation. It all looked amazing, superb sets, great music and lyrics, loads of laugh out loud moments... More

What an amazing show! I loved every minute of it. The set design, acting and musical numbers were great. It was funny, moving and really captured the era. One of the best musicals I've seen for a long while.

Although attending the thoroughly enjoyable 'Made in Dagenham' the show was spoilt by the small, cramped and uncomfortable seating, in the Dress Circle. Needs updating and must be a disappointment to anyone of average or taller build.

Adelphi Theatre has matinee shows twice a week. Great for tourists who don't want to be going out late at night. Discounted tickets can be purchased for as little as 15 pounds. Plenty of staff to assist in the foyer. There are toilets on two levels which reduces the queue times for the ladies. During intermission icecreams can be purchased... More

I took my wife to see Made in Dagenham for her birthday on Saturday 3rd of January and was really impressed with this excellent slick show. The acting and singing was superb and there are plenty of laughs along the way.The only surprise for me was that the show was far from sold out (may be because it was a matinee... Fabulous show with great scenery. Good script which followed the original. Excellent acting and singing. However the Adelphi Theatre really needs an update - seats are tight on space and uncomfortable.
