We had spent a number of hours shopping in the streets of the West End and our legs and feet were in need of rest. We walked from Oxford Street into the exclusive Mayfair area and found the delightful Grosvenor Square. This proved to be the ideal place for us to take a rest. The square is a good size.... More

Grosvenor Square is small but occupies a great location in the heart of Mayfair. It has some interesting statues and is also, during good weather, a common hangout for local business people during lunch. It is easy to see and just off of Oxford Street and Park Lane

I walked around the Mayfair area of London and came upon Grosvenor Square Garden. It is a very nice little park next to the US embassy. There are a few benches to sit on and just watch people or have lunch.

Spent some quality time solo in this beautiful clean square whilst staying in the Marriott opposite. A really nice place to just sit back and watch London go by and read a book or the paper.

Another great urban park in the heart of one of the worlds most beautiful neighborhoods. While it isn't worth a trip across town it is certainly worth diverting a few blocks if you find yourself in this area of London

Grosvenor Square is in Mayfair, just behind Park Lane and not far from shops of Oxford Street. What is a lovely tranquil neighbour park, has been overshadowed over the years by the American Embassy which has an air of unease. More and more security measures have been added with the road, which use to run in front of it being... More

I walk through this neighborhood each time I visit London. With many embassys around the area it is well kept. I enjoy the September 11th Memorial the most in this small park. I will continue to walk through here and read the simple phrase "Grief is the price we pay for Love" above the simple memorial on the East end... More

The US embassy, that has been occupying a building on the West side of the square will move out in 2-3 years to a new site. This will bring a more casual atmosphere to this nice park. At he moment, security issues do not enable free access everywhere.

Grosvenor Square is in the heart of exclusive Mayfair, close to some of London's top hotels along Park Lane and the shopping mecca of Oxford Street. What could be a lovely tranquil park, has a slight air on unease which emanates from the looming edifice of the American Embassy. Every time I visit this square there are more an more... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
