Interesting old English traditional pub, great décor and great booze. Ate here on a Saturday night (in the upstairs area), and the food was great, traditional meat pies and fish and chips. Service was good although they were very busy but this gave a great atmosphere, would definitely go again.

I don't know if the pub was just having a bad night when we went but I was left feeling disappointed. We took my Dad for a meal as he really loves Sherlock Holmes and it all started well - the decor is great and he enjoyed looking at the 'Sherlock' study. It all went a bit downhill from there!... Went for a meal here and I agree with other reviewers that the pub has a lovely atmosphere. It's also a great location not far from the river. Great selection of real ale and some lovely wines. The staff here really go above and beyond. They helped us to get a table reservation for upstairs in the restaurant for later... More

Written in the Hound of the Baskervilles and home of the Sherlock Holmes exhibition fron the 1950s this pub is a genuine London Pub. Visit the viewing gallery upstairs which has been cared for by The Sherlock Holmes Society for over 60 years. This site was originally the Northumberland Hotel and Conan Doyle knew the pub well. Next door is... More

We ended up sitting on stools which was a bit strange, but we wanted to come here as fans of Sherlock. We thought there would be more Sherlock memorabilia, and were a little disappointed, however the food was great. I had Dr Watson’s Traditional Sunday Lunch (which is served anytime) with chicken. I wish I ordered it with beef instead,... More

We were on a business trip and stayed at a hotel in the Westminster area. While trekking to dinner one night, we noticed that the Sherlock Holmes Pub was being renovated for opening the week we were in town. We returned on a weekend night, and the pub was doing a nice business. Seating was scarce, but we found a... More

We have visited London 5 times and each time we begin our visit with a trip to the Sherlock Holmes pub, bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere cozy.,they are closed for the next several weeks for remodeling and I will begoing back in April so Iam anxious to see the new Sherlock.

Great selection of beers and ales, kind and friendly staff. I have been here twice and both times it was a nice atmosphere.

near to Trafalgar square we needed to rest up for 2 hrs awaiting a tour - we popped in tried a few ales, whiskeys and had dinner which was good - size of meal not massive but sufficient - being its position expect to be a little expensive.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
