I'd not visited the Cabinet War rooms for well over 10 years (maybe many more than that) and boy has it changed. The War Rooms themselves are just as interesting and informative as ever but when you throw in the Churchill Museum you really are making this a lot longer visit than you might have thought. There is a lot... more

This was the underground bunker where Churchill and his war cabinet ran the WWII. On the last day of the war, the rooms were locked up and left untouched for 50 years. Everything is as it was on that last day, right down to the pushpins representing troop movements on the map walls. The free audio tour is fascinating. The... more

This site really includes two venues: the actual underground Cabinet War Rooms used during World War II by Churchill and the war-time government and the Churchill Museum. Both are highly recommended. I have rarely been to a museum that was more engaging and made better use of technology, without seeming to "gimmicky". And to see the war rooms, furnished and... more

We visited the Cabinet War Rooms with my Nan and Grandad who lived through the second world war so their opinion on this museum i was really interested in and they loved it. It was so interesting and you got a real sense of history. When the war finished the men and women who had been underground in these war... more

I could have spent all day here, since there was so much stuff to learn at the Churchill Museum alone. I never knew that he was taken captive during the Boer War, and managed to escape with nothing but a revolver and the clothes on his back! Plus, there's an excellent interactive timeline of Churchill's life with some very, very... more

You are taken into the actual war rooms underground where many meetings took place in WWII. I feel that most of the museum is dedicated to the life of Winston Churchill. There are a collection of his personal belongings and snippets of him speaking. Although the Churchill museum section is a bit confusing to navigate it is informative and interesting.... more

This is is simply one of the most fascinating museums I have ever seen - because this is where so much truly important history has taken place. You can see the rooms, the equipment and the furnishings virtually as they were in WWII. Where else can you see that real life history? The expanded Churchill museum is fascinating as well... more

The Cabinet War rooms in conjunction with the Churchill museum is well worth taking the time. There's some really great stuff on Churchill's life and life underground in that location. I especially liked the way Churchill's life was presented...interactive and interesting approach. If you want to learn about Churchill...this is the place. Small children wouldn't enjoy this and you would... more

This has to be one of the most realistic "museums" I have ever been to; the only thing missing is the smoke of Mr. Churchill's cigar. The audio guide is free with your paid admission and you can complete the whole tour in about two hours. Information here is from the serious to the whimsical, focusing not only on the... more

The Cabinet War Rooms are fascinating; learn what Winston Churchill's secretary thought about taking dictation from him, and imagine a time when the leaders of Britain expected invasion any day. The Churchill Museum is excellent - not organized chronologically but in a much better fashion. We (parents and teenaged son) spent 2 1/2 hours there and could have spent much... more
