The place is wonderful. It's got the theaters, restaurants and cafes. It is one of the best places worth exploring when in London. The underground lines that stops at Picadilly Circus, Covent Garden and Leicester Square can help you get through this theatre district. Well, it did for me.

The West End Theatre District is an exciting, vibrant area of the city of London. There are shops and restaurants; but, most of all, there are a variety of shows, plays, musicals and dramas. The West End Theatre District has it all!

Every year on our annual January London visit my wife and I love attending one of the West End theatre plays and so much that we purposely average one play each day we are in London--usually musicals but also drama, dance, ballet. We use the "Get Into London Theatre' promotion which is very convenient with greatly reduced prices.

Definitely make time in your schedule to catch a show while in London. There's literally dozens to choose from whether it be drama, mystery, musicals or comedy. Tickets can be expensive but visit the half price booth in Leicester Square for last minute deals. There are plenty of interesting spots to grab a bite as well.

Booked in to see Les Mis again and enjoyed every minute. Even a rainy evening couldn't dampen the enjoyment of the area. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, we visited La Scala, which was perfectly located for the Queens Theatre and very nice Italian food and service. Post show trip through china town and sampled a selection of brews from... More

We enjoyed a performance of Kinky Boots at the Adelphi theatre on The strand. This area is absolutely packed with theatres and they sit side by side and can be very different in style. The theatres also are enveloped by many bars and restaurants that cater for tourists with their pre and post theatre menus. A walk around this area... More

A very famous district around the world. If you want to see a show then this is the place to go. Try and get your tickets from one of the discount booths though.

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
