I have to admit this is not my favorite neighborhood of London, but maybe it is the most lively of them all. Especially during the night, when it can become really crowded. Numerous entertainment options, with the most characteristic being of course the theaters and the musicals. Plenty of restaurants, caffes and bars to choose from but for some unspecified... More

Spring is upon London and everyone's out and about especially on a weekend evening. This place gets extra crowded because in addition to the theatre crowds, you also get the spillover from Chinatown tourists and the people in the regular and gay bars Watch a west end show and also take and walk and soak in the atmosphere

The heart of London's night life, with dozens of theaters, cafes, restaurants; many clubs and cinemas; crowds of pedestrians days and night. It is not pretty, elegant, clean or green. But it is really lively and pleasant.

The West End area was lots of fun, lively and artistic. So many shows to choose from and all well done. Get your tickets in advance for the shows as the popular ones had long lines. Our favorite show we saw was "Wicked". It was spectacular!

I love, love, love "The Theatre District" of Londons West End. It is always vibrant & alive with a buzz of anticipation in the air. This area has really had a resurgence of popularity in recent years & there really is a show there for every taste. Go & enjoy live theatre. Please do read some of my show reviews.

Easy to find, easy to wander around , but for your research and purchase tickets before you arrive at theatre. If travelling on speck use London Theatre tickets outlet near odeon in Leicester Square. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby. At weekends more matinees available on Saturday than Sunday but always new films in the Odeon ! Theatre... More

Our hotel was located in the middle of the west end and was excellent for exploring this part of London and the many theatres in the area. It's very busy with tourists bustling around. There's plenty of bars and restaurants and your spoilt for choice for somewhere to get pre theatre meals and drinks.

We saw 'Warhorse' which was excellent, full of talented actors who amaze with their puppetry skills! Very moving show. Also saw 'The Commitments' which was way beyond our expectations! Such a funny show, full of wonderfull singing! A really feel-good show which the audience went crazy for! Would recommend either as they were both fantastic!

Was only here in passing both during the day and night, but both times it was very lively. I felt happy just being there (I know, very lame) and seeing all the theatres, the posters and lights. It was incredible.

The best time to visit this district is absolutely in the evening. Just walking around makes you feel special. Lights, music and the big boards. Like a small hollywood scene!

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
