We had done the wine tasting previously so was looking forward to going again. We were told upon arrival during the "how to taste wine" talk that the place was closing down soon and boy did it feel like it, the queue for the cloakroom took forever which made us late for the talk. Once the talk had finished we... More

The taste of the food served here is amazing. If you had enough fish and chips go to this place and you will find a real tasty food. ( chicken, duck, pork, lamb, cow, fish) Excellent!

We visited Vinopolis a few years ago and had a memorable time, ending up drunk in Soho, drawing portraits in exchange for pints of Guinness. So it seemed a great choice of venue for a birthday bash with friends. But what a shame. The initial private wine tasting lasted an hour and that was fine, we all learnt a lot,... More

Got this as a gift from a friend and it really was good fun. Great way to sample wine without having to buy the whole bottles to do it. At the end of it you've got a pretty good idea of which ones you prefer and then you can actually go buy wines you like. Enjoyed the experience over all.

We first went 7 years ago when you were served by people rather than dispensing machines. As it was a busy afternoon the wine kept running out in the popular areas with no staff keeping an eye on things. Hence you had to find someone if you wanted something specific. The staff seemed a little disgruntled which was also a... More

We went to Vinopolis yesterday as it is closing soon and we hadn't been for a few years.Interesting talk about tasting wines. But the whole atmosphere of the place has changed from many interesting wines from all over the world served by people to glossy machines dolling it out .Very clinical. What a shame. We wish the staff all the best for the... We recently visited for the afternoon & had purchased the quintessential tokens package. The building and size of the place is impressive with a huge Laithwaites wine/spirits shop at the back which made us think there would be an equally impressive selection of nice wines. The talk beforehand about how to taste wines/what to look for etc was interesting. There... More

My son and his girlfriend treated us to a trip to Vinopolis which was so lovely- the wines are very high calibre, varied and suits all palates- they had champagne and some spirits too., It was interesting but sadly is closing-what a shame- the venue is fab and I do hope something like this will be back...

the wines available was poor, none of them tasted any good at all, the only wine tasting conclusion was not to buy any of them. the spirit selection had one bottle of vodka no gin no whisky no brandy the only other spirit was absinthe, which you would only use as paint striper a total waste of money !

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you found our Wine Experience disappointing, especially our Spirits Lounge. Our Wine Experience features over 100 wines from around the world and we select our spirits from some top quality boutique producers. We do not feature brandy. During busier periods, bottles will need to be replaced however our Wine Hosts... More

We were invited by our friends to go to Vinopolis with them. What a treat! We had so much fun tasting, analysing and learning more about paring wine with certain foods. A lovely venue that was perfect with its arched brick ceiling and walls - it had the feeling of a huge wine cellar. The freshly cooked empanadas on the... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
