Had a really enjoyable afternoon on vino polis. Very informative without being boring. Gave us enough time to sample lots of wines and there is a really god tapas bar there where we took our wine and enjoyed cold meats, cheeses, bread and olives. There is always a person to hand to answers your wine questions. I suggest you get there... More

Excellent evening spent learning about wine and champagne. You definitely need at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours to thoroughly enjoy this experience. You spend the first 15 minutes learning who to taste wine before enjoying the wines on offer. The champagne bar was a must and we returned. It is such a shame that Vinopolis is closing at Christmas... More

Came here as a belated birthday gift with a friend, we arrived a little early and had a cocktail at the bar before the tour started. When the tour started we were led into a room and given a glass of wine, our host was very nice and we learnt the correct way to smell/taste wine. The wine itself was... More

Trip to Vinopolis was part of a birthday present. A two course Sunday meal & then onto the wine tasting lesson & then the wine. Meal was great, steak perfectly cooked. Wine tasting lesson was informative but felt a little rushed. Guy had to impart a lot of information in only half an hour. Thought there would be more wine... More

We came as a group of four, and were granted a 25% discount on our chosen wine tasting package which was great. The people who work here are all very enthusiastic, which gives the place a great atmosphere. So many wines to choose from and lots of different stations. You can discover what wines suit your taste buds, and because... More

This is my second visit to Vinopolis (my first visit last year) and having recommended to my friends as a great day out I was abit concerned with a number of poor reviews on Trip. Thankfully the reviews were wrong! We chose the self guided tour so we had a brief 10 minute intro into wine tasting then you are... More

Was brilliant a few years back. Now humans have been replaced with machines. Not even sentient ones! Won't be coming back unfortunately. In fact we raced around to find the machine with the most expensive wine just so that we could use up our impersonal credits and get out! Does anyone else watch Humans on a Sunday night? I bet... I had heard of this place many years ago and always intended going. On this occasion it was my birthday and we spent it exploring new places in London that we hadn't visited. When I heard that Vinopolis was closing, it spurred us on to go. On arrival we purchased 7 tokens (the minimum) as my husband had to drive... More

I had a surprise visit here on my 30th birthday, and have visited again since and both times were wonderful and memorable. The wines were all delicious and the atmosphere was delightful. So sorry to hear they're closing -- it's a great location and a wonderful wine experience, so it's really too bad but if you're thinking of visiting, definitely... More

A busy, lively place to come for a couple of drinks after work. Not many tourists which is good, more suits and local professionals. Wide selection of beers ale etc. We had the London Lager and Yakima red ale.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
