I was given the 3-course meal and tasting experience as a present for me and my wife. It is very difficult to rate this place - the atmosphere in the restaurant was non-existent, as we were the only ones there on a Thursday lunchtime (and the restaurant is large). But the food was very good, and plentiful. The cheeese board... More

if you don'y know anything about wine, you'll not come out knowing more. if you already have a base, Vinopolis will give the opportunity to try new wines and understand what you like more. the choice of wines is not huge but it's sufficient to spend a couple of hours. I was expecting more wines with high tokens, which means... More

Visiting friends in London they suggested we try this and they booked on a offer at £32 per person but buy one get one free. Easy to find and welcoming staff ( we missed our time slot due to a delay ) this was not a problem and we were put on the next tour slot. Lots of wine, great... More

I think it's a terrible shame that Vinopolis is closing at the end of the year as it really is a unique place. It's my second visit and was just as good as the first. It really is a unique opportunity to sample a whole array of wines. I used it as an opportunity to try wines that wouldn't normally... More

We just got off the tube and headed to the Borough market. Unfortunately for us the market was closed on Sundays so we found a street food vendor and had lunch. We walked around the Victorian streets and stumbled onto this fantastic place. At first we thought this was just another spirit and wine store, but it was not until... More

My friend and I spontaneously decided to venture over to Vinopolis for a evening of wine. We were able to book in effortlessly. The tutorial at the beginning of our visit was helpful and informative. The range of wines were delicious and we enjoyed freely wondering around at our leisure and try what we wanted whenever we wanted to. I'm... More

I had bought my husband the quintessential tour for his birthday. After a 20minute talk from entertaining Vincent, we went through to spend our 16 vouchers. It wasnt what we expected at all, with the autimatic dispensers etc. that said we had a great time and spent 2.5 hours there. Theres a little tapas bar which is fine, the measures... More

We booked the Classic wine experience and didn't know what to expect. It started with a 15 minute talk re how to taste wine which was entertaining and informative. More people than I had expected - About 50 at a time? Then you are left to use your tokens to try various wines. You only get a taste but we... More

Like many of the reviewers here, I've visited Vinopolis before the changes were implemented, and found the experience and atmosphere 'different', with a little less colour and 'soul' Getting the wine samples from a machine is the obvious main difference, and it feels a bit clinical without the human contact. However, I have to imagine this was my first visit... More

Magnificent evening out with family to celebrate my birthday. The choice of beverages I found to be very acceptable, Vincent our sommelier on duty was tremendous, I appreciate this property is closing sadly in November, and it will be sadly. It has been a long standing establishment based at Borough Market for many many years. I do hope that you... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
