You will need an hour at least to actually go through this Museum. Make sure that if you are going with others that you have a meeting place incase you get lost, because I almost did with my friends. It is very big and the art is very interesting. Definetly worth going!

The Gallery (and Portrait Gallery) are places you can spend an entire day out. Each museum has evening hours one day per week too - be sure and schedule plenty of time there.

If you have even a little bit of interest in art, dont miss this museum. Located at Trafalgar Square, with free entry. We took the guided tour, (which was also free) and the docent was really into art. He went into great detail about the paintings we were looking at. I loved it, the kids didn't. The museum wasn't crowded and was well layed out.

Permanent exhibitions offer something for everyone. Temporary exhibitions are worth a trip to London in their own merit.

Stop by the National Museum for amazing art and then take some time to sit outside in front on the stairs to enjoy the scenery at Trafalgar Square. Lots to see! Gorgeous and chill :)

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
