Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances. Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

Yes, it is as amazing as everyone says!

Went to this performance second time (first time was 15 years ago). Was horribly unsatisfied: music is fantastic and we all know that but the performace was absolutely waste of time: bad sound, only noise, no soul, very shabby. Do not go especially if it is second time.

The theatre is a bit old and the seats are a bit tight so make sure you're buying the best seats or it could be a bit uncomfortable. My seats were A9 and A10 in the Royal Circle (just above the stalls) and I guess those are the best seats, you can ser everything, have plenty leg room and the... More

Loved the intimate setting of Her Majesty's Theatre. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.

As we were in Piccadilly, my sister and I decided to ask at the box office for any tickets for that evening's performance. We were sold 2 restricted view seats in the Royal Circle for £26 each and the view was not very restricted. This was our third time seeing Phantom, this musical never disappoints, the cast received a standing ovation... More

We were lucky to have just four rows from the stage in the stalls and lived every minute of this spectacular show. The setting. cast and music was great. Loved this show.

I saw this show for my 18th birthday in 1989 and finally went to see it again, this time with my 17 year old daughter. Stunning, absolutely stunning! The music and singing gave me goosebumps. By the end I was so transfixed I was shaking. Absolutely tremendous show!

A overwhelming experience, what a performance and what fantastic set pieces, amazingly well done and creative, there will be some moments which will literally leave you open mouthed. Examples being some clever disappearing tricks(one in particular which was like magic) and clever uses of a mirror and a girl staying still for minutes, before moving slightly, then staying still again... If I hadn't seen this previously I wouldn't have been disappointed but the performance I saw today was lacking something. It had lost some of its magic and sparkle and when compared to the likes of Les Miserables did not appear as professional. I don't think it helped that when I was stood outside there were some cast members discussing... More

Just wow! Absolutely LOVED this performance from start to finish...and didn't want it to end! We paid a bit extra for good (not top of price range) seats - Row A of the Royal Circle. This meant we didn't have anyone in front of us and the special effects could be seen clearly. This is a show that I have... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
