Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances. Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

Now Phantom was the first musical I truly adored and still after seeing it 23 times I still love it, I first saw it in 2005 and went recently to mark 10 years of my love for Phantom! Everyone should see this show!

This was amazing, it was difficult to tell the difference from the original cast that were propelled to stardom all those years ago. Very emotional. Really did get to you. A great evening out. Well worth the visit.

I was really amazed by "Phantom of the Opera". The singing was of course superb but what I was most surprised about were the effects which were unbelievable! Granted this is the only London play I have been to, but I am very happy to have chosen "Phantom of the Opera". It was an awesome experience!

I saw Phantom in Washington DC at a dinner / theatre many years ago and enjoyed it. So I thought I'd 'seen it'. However, I went with a group to Her Majesty's theatre on Thu 16 Jun and was completely blown away with both the performance and the stage effects which are completely beguiling. SOME ADVICE - if your not... More

Loved every minute of it, in my opinion the best show at the west end. A must see if you are going to see any show!

My favourite, the music is excellent, the scenery fits perfectly. Having done the back stage visit, it makes you admire even more the special effects it creates particularly the masked ball staircase. My yearly trip will be here soon, can't wait!

While vacationing in London with Hubby and 15-year old Daughter, it was a no-brainer for us to see a show in London's famous West End. We chose "The Phantom of the Opera", and we definitely chose wisely. The set, the costumes, and the singing were excellent; we were thoroughly entertained. The seats are a bit tight in the theater, but... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
