Another Intelligence Trail tour with Mr. X, whose knowledge of London's espionage history continues to amaze, on the risqué side of the great moments in espionage. From blackmail, honey traps, and more, we learned about the darker side of human nature,,told with skill and humor by Mr.X,,,,,give this tour a try, and be sure to ask about Boris!

Our group had high expectations of The Intelligence Trail tour and Mr. X (Brian Gray) did not disappoint us. It was a very memorable 2.5 hours from the rendezvous point to the finish, jam packed with sights, reference to important historical events and anecdotes of heroism and treachery – a definite highlight of our trip. Brian is extremely well informed... More

In January of this 2014 I took Agent Xs new tour, through the heart of Whitehall, with two other friends, and, despite the cold and rain,,it was very good! Agent X is truly a master of the subject, and presents the topic very well! I heartily recommend The Intelligence trail to all who enjoy a good spy story, very well... More

I booked this tour for my husband's birthday as a surprise and it did not disappoint. From the moment we met Mr X, we were whisked on a private tour of espionage and treachery in Central London. Mr X was an excellent tour guide, and willing to answer any questions we had about the secret services. The tour was crammed... More

Two of us took this tour with Agent X (Brian) on an afternoon in January 2014. It takes roughly 2.5 hours but can last longer depending on the route that you take. It was so interesting to learn about the history of buildings that you would otherwise walk straight past and not notice. Brian is an expert in his field... More

My day on the Intelligence Trail in London was a truly memorable experience. Brian Gray delivered an in depth and fascinating tour that took me to locations both famous and infamous, and he made the past come to life with his anecdotes and intimate details. As an author, I am unable to spend thirty seconds with a subject matter expert... More

Hello Peter! Thanks for your kind words and so glad - and flattered - that you chose to bring along some of your family as well as yourself this time around. As for four hours: was it really?! I'm reckoning that we'd finished the tour in just over three (I don't clock watch, see!) but then carried on pondering various... More

A definite activity for those who love James Bond, MI5, and Cold War espionage. Brian (Mr. X) was very knowledgeable and passionate about all things "spy". The 2.5 hour walk was very easy and gave us great insight into areas of the city that we would have otherwise not seen as tourists...including a beautiful stroll through St. James Park...or shall... I was in London for a few days and i wanted to go on a Spy Trail. I chose The Intelligence Trail. It turned out to be an excellent tour. Not too long but very informative and enjoyable. The guide (Brian) was an excellent guide, friendly, informative and very clear. The tour was overall superb, (I went on the "Classic"... More

We enjoyed the tour. Mr X was very knowledgeable. He had some fascinating stories and took you to places where secret things happened. It is recommended. The only thing I would like changed is possibly a few modern stories as most were old. There are very obvious reasons for this (national security) however if there is any way round this... More

Management response:

Thank you for your kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed the 'Trail. Regarding your comment about more recent events being covered in the 'Trail, the Classic 'Trail does have the opportunity to cover 2-3 relatively recent events/stories. That said, the aim of the Classic tour is to provide a variety of highlights which can span from the 1900's to... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
