Description: All aboard the ‘orrible omnibus for a ride around the dark side of London...
All aboard the ‘orrible omnibus for a ride around the dark side of London. The Ghost Bus Tours’ classic Routemaster has been redesigned to give passengers London’s first ‘Fright Bus’ service. On-board actors and technical trickery combine to create the scariest tour in town. A creepy conductor provides the commentary for this sinister sightseeing show, revealing haunted places, unmarked burial grounds and the skeletons in the capital’s cupboard.

We did the 7.45pm tour, you go on a very atmospheric vintage bus with velvet curtains and table lamps. There are sound effects too (a touch too loud if sat by speakers). The bus... read more

Took a group of students on this tour and had a great time, very funny and a few scares..... There were a few descriptions that were hilarious and had me in tears. I would definitely recommend this tour however after paying for this tour I was dissapointed that the guide had his hat out at the end for tips..... As... More

This was the most hilarious and entertaining bus tour. It is part historical and part theatrical. The bus itself is fascinating since it had been used to take people to funerals and it is the last one remaining since the rest were destroyed in a depot fire. I sat on the top deck of the bus. It was great to... More

The ghost bus is "campy" and not even in a fun way. Instead of sharing good ghost stories of London, the tour guide tries to make stupid jokes while a crazy theater student drop-out acts like a possessed health & safety inspector. You can't make this stuff up. Having taken the tour with a few family members (and we were... More

I was hoping the Ghost Bus Tour was going to be something Special as it was the main treat for a surprise Birthday weekend. The pick up point of the Grand Hotel off Trafalgar Square was an easy central point to find, even for a disorientated Brummie!! Not really knowing what to expect and whether my daughter would like it,... More

My partner and I went on this tour early in June. It was hilarious (and a little bit spooky too). Highly recommended. Would do it again, but in the dark next time!

On sunday 21st june I went on this "scaring" bus tour. I took a group of 28 italian students, 15 pounds each! The tour was not very interesting and the attractions on the bus were incredibly scarce. But the the weakest link was the guide. He was very funny if you understand the language, or better, if you are english... More

A very disappointing experience. The start was what was expected, after reading other trip advisor reviews- a light hearted way to spend an evening, that was lightly different to the other tours on offer. However, three main issues came to light. Firstly, the actors seemed not to be following any storyline-it was more improvisation, which would be great-if it worked.... More

We were really looking forward to a fun trip with lots of screams and laughs but sadly we were very disappointed. There was nothing scary about it at all. Boring and we couldn't wait to get off and considered trying to escape during the hour tour! A rip off of £21 pounds per person which I will not be recommending... More

If you have a morbid sense of humour and a thirst for knowledge then this tour is ideal. We went for the 9pm trip at the beginning of June, it was a bit difficult to workout the pick up point but the big black double decker bus was easy to spot.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
