Booked a table here for tomorrow, or thought I had, via the website. There is a specialist bookings page on the website which says: We love organised people, so you're already one step ahead of the pack. Whether there's two or ten of you, we make it our duty to have the perfect space ready at any time to suit... More

I was looking for a place to eat nearby the Islington Assembly Hall before a gig, this seemed one of the cheapest options. Reasonably priced, good pub grub, good selection of drinks on offer from what I saw, and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Spotted that it also acts as a theatre too but didn't know it's a live music venue... More

London's home to rock and punks with bands appearing there from Dire Straights to The Ramones it's a relief that this pub is still going strong A airy bar area with a warm welcome and a great range of independent beers. The food menu has a great selection of tasty dishes from a 'starter' of slider burgers-2x smoked brisket beef... More

First time here and we came for the theatre but was impressed by the pub too. Good food and service. Looking forward to our next visit.

I hope this is the very same pub others have written up. I question only because we had a great meal and would highly recommend eating here. Many of the Trip Advisor reviews do not match our experience at all. There is always a crowd and fortunately we arrived sufficiently early, before heading to The Old Vic. There were obviously... I was last in this Pub in 1982. I was a lot younger and remember this pub a lot differently than it is now. For better or for worse this was my first pub and it will always be my favorite. The beer is still excellent and this is one of my favorite places to visit and hang out for... More

It is a shame that the Hope & Anchor was sold to a pub chain who removed the snooker table and Jukebox upstairs for slightly more dining space.

We wanted to explore Upper Street and have an early dinner before a performance at the Almeida. The pub wasn't busy, the food came fast and was good (actually, well-thought-out and well-prepared). It was only when I went upstairs to the loo that I noticed a stage. I was clueless, and looked it up later - meaning last week. Next... More

The staff have a tendency to short measure on pints etc. this is as a matter of policy and they don't like it when you ask for a correct measure. This coupled with a surly attitude don't make for happy bed fellows with any proper customers who value some degree of service. No Comment on the food, the atmos was... More
