Billy Elliot has been dazzling London's West End since 2005. Set in a mining town in the north of England during the 1984/'85 miners' strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy's struggle against the odds to make his dream of becoming a dancer, not a boxer, come true.

I'd been looking forward to seeing this show and was prepared for bad language to depict the story. I was not prepared for the use of bad language at and by children to be used as a cheap source of humour. I was amazed at how many people continued to laugh just because obscene language was used. In one scene... More

Very good show! Amazing! Foreigners, beware of the actors' accent, might be difficult to understand!

Last minute booking. Have wanted to see it for a long time after watching the film. Great show funny and sad in parts. Fantastic cast and outstanding dancing. Beautifull theatre, very convenient to get to, just around the corner from Victoria station/underground. Will definitely go and see it again especially if it plans to do a tour of the UK

Had a blast from start to finish. Laughed a lot and cried a lot. Performance out of this world and full of vibrancy and vigour from beginning to end. Just cannot put into adequate words how wonderful this production is from the cast to the production team, the costumes and the set Loved it!

I really enjoyed this show. I am a big fan of the movie, so was wondering how this was going to come across as a musical. I wasn't dissapointed. Elton John's music and lyrics fit in perfectly in telling this story, Plus the performers were excellent.

Went to see Billy Elliot last week, and although I knew the basic storyline, have never seen the film, so I had no pre conceptions. Spent most of the time laughing or with my mouth agape at the fabulous dancing, especially from the younger members of the cast. A story portrayed with humour and drama, with a few tears thrown... I did not know at lot about this musical before going There, but we were not disappointed. A really tough story, and yet funny. We Found it quit easy to understand what Was Said, even though we are Foreigners. Really super actors, and great show.

After many years and great expectations, I took my sister this week to see the show. There was a lack of soul in the dance from little Billy, no passion or true engagement with the role. Michael, the friend, is far better bringing to live his character. It's not a breathtaking show. Lord of the Dance is.

My wife and I went to a Monday evening performance and it was a really wonderful show. All the cast were excellent, with Ruthie Henshall and (we think) 12 year old Brodie Donougher truly terrific. The production, singing, dancing and music all first class. Probably a bit too much bad language for young children, but it all captured the mood... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
