Our Jack the Ripper tour takes place seven nights a week at 7pm. We meet outside Aldgate East Underground Station. We ask you to book because we limit the number of participants on each tour to around 34 people per guide. We go straight into the old alleyways where the Jack the Ripper murders occurred in the autumn of 1888. Several of our guides are published authors on the subject.

Our guide was John Bennett and he was incredible. The explanations, knowledge, and overall atmosphere provided by John were what made this tour truly gripping. The historical references, views, and ability to get a feel of London's East End in the late 1800's are just a few reasons to take this tour. I highly recommend the tour to anyone going... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hour tour around Whitechapel, discovering the facts surrounding the infamous Jack the Ripper. Phillip with his style of wit, made the tour very exciting and certainly killed our illusion of who we thought the Ripper was!!!!!!

Great tour with an amazing guide, Phillip who kept us well informed with a few laughs along the way. He certainly knows his history and keeps you enthusiastic throughout the tour. If you are going to do the tour then this one is ideal for all ages.

Philip Hutchinson was our tour guide, he started by giving us a historical context to the East End during the 1880s. This helped to put everything into perspective and to gain an insight into the area/surroundings that Jack the Ripper terrorized. It is clear Phil has a genuine passion for the Jack the Ripper case and he tells the stories... More

What a great time we had? Led by the" Gand Master" of Jack the Ripper - Philip Hutchinson, we learnt so much about those dark days. Philip set the scene and peppered the walk with humour and interest. Having eaves dropped on some other JR tours, we were thankful that Philip was "the man!" Brilliant, thoroughly recommended. Lots of walking,... More

Our tour guide Philip was very entertaining, had loads of stories and old photographs to show. The walk is away from the main tourist areas and very interesting. The stories were a bit gory, but you wouldn't have signed up for this walk if you don't like that. Definitely recommend it.

Philip has his own unique style of guiding that we feel 'brings the case to life' The area is often overlooked which is a shame is it is a lovely historic part of London, so its good to hear that you found it interesting.... We had a really friendly tour guide, pretty down to earth and very funny too! He was very informative & made the whole experience really cool. taught me a few things I didn't know about the East End of London as well as the stuff about JTR. An inexpensive tour worth a go even as a Londoner!

My partner and I were a little apprehensive at first, we were the only couple at the meet up point, but soon a nice healthy sized group arrived, followed by Phillip the tour guide. Phillip was knowledgable, approachable and you can tell he was really passionate in what he was telling us (factually) about the Ripper. His sense of humour... More

We (me and my partner) were on this tour tonight with Lyndsey as our guide. This tour is great at just £10 per person. Our guide knew a lot about Jack the Ripper, the neighbourhood he stalked and the police case. She had photos of locations and victims; and visitors were always warned about gruesome content prior to sharing so... More

This was a great tour. John covered the social history of the East End, the plight of of women forced into prostitution, and the details of the murders without sensationalism or nonsense. He had sympathy for the victims and brought them alive as people. Interesting reflections on the role of the media, police investigation of the time, and the ripper... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighborhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
