A Victorian house inside a Tudor house!. Try to arrive at opening time (11am but not open every day) and take a themed guided tour of the house at 11.15. There are others later on a first come first served basis. Otherwise the house does not open until 12.30. You can wander about the gardens getting views of the house... More

We spent hours in this fascinating property. There are two tours that MUST be taken, the Victorian and the Tudor - both are quite superb with very knowledgeable volunteer National Trust staff. Despite the miserable weather this was a great place to visit and one of the finest NT properties we have visited (after Tredegar House in Newport). A must... More

Great place, not huge but again full of history. This was the pick up for the tour for,John and Paul's houses, so it was a bit of a bonus to enjoy this house tour as much, very nice grounds.

Lovely Tudor house with lots of history and beautiful rooms to walk around. I do wish they'd keep the focus on history rather than catering to kids with teddy bears etc that really have nothing to do with teh house or it's history but i suppose they have to get visitors in however they can. House was lovely at peaceful... More

great tour guide, charming house. The frontage was heavily scaffolded which was a shame. Grounds were lovely and weather was good when I went.

Located near John Lennon airport in Speke unless you'd visited before you wouldn't know it was there. As National trust members we have visited a number of times, the last being for the Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. The special events in particular are really good and take place every bank holiday and during the children's school holidays. If... More

Last day of the Easter Holidays took our two grandchildren there for the day. Had a great day out lots for them to do really enjoyed the maze and the childrens play area, coastal walk gave us fantastic views of the planes landing at John Lennon Airport. Children were well catered for with the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter... More

Really interesting building set in a quiet garden and lots of grounds for children to run around in. We liked seeing the priest hole and hearing about the history.
