Literally next door to the Airport, so handy for plane spotters, this national trust property features a well preserved Tudor house situated around a courtyard, and smallish gardens. I especially liked the full size billiard table and despite the age of the house the rooms and corridors were wide and high; no low ceilings. The gardens were smaller than I... More

A National Trust property, and whilst Tudor in build, it is Victorian in decor - for William Morris fans there are original wallpapers in many of the rooms. It is worth asking questions of the guides, they are well informed, engaging and enjoy providing a sense of the history. Ask about eavesdropping! When visiting the house, start with the courtyard... Speke Hall is an amazing Tudor house around a courtyard with a large number of interesting rooms including the old kitchen. It was very well staffed with National Trust volunteers who were very keen to share their knowledge. Some fabulous word carving on beds and cupboards is worth inspecting in detail, as is the William Morris wallpaper. There were special... More

Visited with relatives as were staying not too far away. Grounds were lovely and appreciated the coastal path walk by the River Mersey, with some good views. The Tudor House, with some Victorian influence and changes added was interesting, inside and out. We had quite a bit to eat and drink here, from cakes ,scones roll soups, teas and coffees-all... Speke Hall is well worth a visit. The house is very interesting. the cafe has improved. The maze is getting taller. They have done so much with the walks - can now get down to the river. In Spring the drive is one mass of daffodils and when the bluebells are out it's beautiful. They've also got a lot of... More

Speke Hall seems to be one of the less well-known National Trust properties and also doesn't feature in the list of top attractions in Liverpool. I don't know why! It's a great place to visit - the house is very historic and interesting inside and the gardens are lovely...though it's true the grounds are not as large or impressive as... More

As a local I find the entrance cost prohibitive, paid £16 for three adults to walk around the gardens only, which are fine but not spectacular,, add to that the cost of entrance to the Hall.. too expensive, I would love to visit more often but cant afford it, one good thing was the buggy lift from the car park...
