Interesting how a hit song has turned this simple commuter ferry into a major tourist attraction. We took it during the middle of our day in Liverpool and found it to be a great way to relax. Plenty of other attractions in the same area.

We had friends visiting us who had never been to Liverpool and the view of the city from the ferry as we left Birkenhead is really memorable. Its all there, The three graces, two cathedrals, the Radio City tower, the Echo arena, the Albert Docs and loads more all laid out in front of you ...iconic. The ferry crossing is... More

You've never lived until you've been completely drunk on a Mersey Ferry in a severe gale. I was once in 1965 and I puked my guts out all over the deck, If I gdetthe chance, when I go to Liverpool, as I do regularly, I walk down to the Pierhead and take the ferry across thewater. The boats may have... More

If you are in Liverpool, you just have to take a ferry across the Mersey, it's an absolute must. OK, it's just a cruise up and down a river, but it's so steeped in our culture, that it becomes something really special. As soon as you hear Gerry and the Pacemakers, singing you know you are in for a treat.... More

We took a trip on Saturday afternoon, I had read the reviews on trip advisor so expected the commentary mentioned in most reviews. Instead we had to listen to the most awful karaoke for the whole trip, some kind of celebration going on! We were not informed of this when we paid our money. The trip without commentary is pretty... Hi, thank you for taking the time to review your Mersey Ferry trip. We are sorry your trip did not meet your expectations. As a Liverpool native who has lived away from the city for some years it is some time since I took the Mersey Ferry. I took the round trip tour last week on a beautiful sunny day and had a wonderful experience. A well constructed audio commentary is provided which give the history of each of the main buildings on... More

While in Liverpool you must take the ferry across the Mersey! Its a great trip that lasts about 50mins and has commentery throughout. We did a combined open top bus and ferry trip and for a couple it was £24.00. I would give 2-3 hours including the bus tour but a great start to a break in Liverpool

Manchester Ship Canal cruises run from either Liverpool to Manchester, or the reverse, Manchester to Liverpool. I travelled from Manchester to Liverpool. You board at the Lowry Centre on Salford Quays departing at 0930 for a 6 hour cruise up the Manchester Ship canal and River Mersey. The ship is a fully re conditioned ex Mersey ferry. The ship is... Mersey ferries operate a small tour along the river Mersey. This takes in the Liverpool waterfront, New Brighton, Seacombe and Woodside on the Birkenhead side of the river. There is a running commentary on the history of Liverpool Docks, its warehouse buildings, the people, and current usage, which is quite interesting. Top tip - but a "Savaway" ticket for £4-90...
