The Usher Gallery is a small collection of art, beautiful and interesting. The collection is a small museum which has a timeline theme, although it has some interactive bits and bobs for children I personally think it would appeal a lot more to adults. Detailed and interesting the place was a great visit for a couple of hours and is... More

Hi. We were in the area so we took a look. It was OK but not much to see. I liked the photo display of well known poets and there was a handsome sculpture of The Prodigal Son & a vase by Grayson Perry but some of the galleries were closed and it wasn't very interactive. Small children won't see... More

The museum and usher gallery are in close proximity. The Usher gallery was a little disappointing. However the staff were very friendly and explained that some exhibits were missing due to being in the process of changing the displays. Still worth visiting whilst visiting the museum and entry to both are free. Within the museum there are some fun interactive... More

I'm glad the collection is free as there isn't really much in there bit of a waste of money and simply to tick the box of museum. much prefer a trip to the Lincolnshire life museum.

I visited the Usher Gallery because the literature I picked up at the Visitor Information Centre told me that the gallery has paintings by JMW Turner. Well, they aren't on display, any more than some Lowrys which the gallery apparently also owns. What a letdown. Fancy hiding your best works! I asked the reason for this and was given a... More

Took my young grandson recently - last visit was a number of years ago with my son - and the first room we visited gave him such an enjoyable time, with dressing up clothes, toys for hands on fun it seemed a pity to take him away. The experience has continually improved and a lot of hard work and thought... More

A beautiful 1920s classical building holds a wonderful gallery of painting, porcelain, sculpture, clocks, watches and silver. What is especially well thought out is the juxtaposition of the same genre from different periods, which gives on the chance to appreciate similarities and differences in art and design, and the importance of different aspects, over the periods. Adjacent to the Usher... More

This small gallery in beautiful grounds was worth the visit. The works of art including sculpture were neatly arranged with old and new with the undiscovered. The attention to detail with links to junior education were superb.

World class exhibitions for free at the Usher Gallery & don't forget to visit the side gallery in the (also free) Collection Museum next door. Great & very accessible art & interesting exhibitions, with children very much included. The cafe has further improved since Stokes have taken over with a fantastic selection of hot & cold food verging on restaurant... More

Small, free art gallery in a modern building. Different types and ages of art all mixed up. Helpful, friendly staff.
