Only spent a short time in here. It is a free attraction. Some of the displays: I wondered what they were about?

Tells the story of the history of Lincolnshire from Paleolithic times to the present. Many artefacts, well displayed and described. Awful piped music in the cafe but the patio outside was peaceful.

This museum is cleverly devised to provide somthing for everyone. If you want carefully graduated levels of depth so that almost anyone can take some ideas away from a museum this is the one for you. The main gallery charts the history of Lincoln with a small but impressive selection of artifacts and rugged (i.e. not computerised) interactive exhibits. It... More

The Collection. If you like history this is a good place to visit. You can either see history in Lincolnshire from present day going back in time of do it the other way round. While looking around we could not help overhearing school children being enthusiastically taught by a member of staff about roman life. Hearing their interaction was brilliant... More

We were walking back down steep hill when I noticed a signpost for The Collection. I could just see it up a side road so we decided to have a look. We spent a while in the museum and it was quite interesting but also enjoyable to see some school children pretending to be Romans with helmets and shields. We... More

We visited the Usher Gallery to see the Modern Masters exhibition earlier this year. Really fantastic to be able to see such brilliant works by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Andy Warhol in Lincoln. They have some really interesting and varied exhibitions on so it's well worth checking to see what's coming up in the programme.

The second surprise of our visit to Lincoln was a visit to the Usher Gallery. We went through two exhibits. The first was Lincoln from the stone age to the present day. Very well laid out, informative and extremely interesting. The second Gallery we visited was the Sir Joseph Banks exhibition. Sir Joseph Banks was a noted scientist and naturalist... More

The experiences of any visitor to a museum much depends on their particular interest,The saying "you cannot please all the people all the time" is very apt to most museums and one would expect some criticisms, however I personally found "The Collection Museum in Lincoln to my taste with very interesting well laid out exhibits, it does of course concentrate... The Collection in Lincoln is a wonderful museum charting the history of the county of Lincolnshire from its earliest times through to the present, all housed in a beautiful building. Although our visit was made during half term, there was plenty of space for everyone. Each era is extremely well presented with some very interesting artifacts on display including interactive...
