We took advantage of the free tour guides at Lincoln Castle this weekend. Our guide was called Bill Codd, his knowledge was excellent and he made the history very interesting with stories of the people who had lived and died at the Castle. If you visit Lincoln make sure you visit the castle and take the opportunity of a free...

Lincoln Castle is currently being renovated so the majority is closed to the public. You do not find this out until you have paid the full price of £6 per adult. This should be free as there is literally hardly anything to see!
If you see scaffolding up at the castle on your visit then do not enter. It really...

I fullyaccept there is restoration work going on and they have reduced prices to accept that £4.50 per adult, but that is still far too expensive .
There is very little on offer. You can only get half way round the wall and turn back picking your way between scaffold poles etc. the jail was of interest but even that...

We absolutely enjoyed our visit to Lincoln Castle, built in 1068. Our guide, Peter, was most informative and took us all over the Castle grounds. We felt we had learnt a lot. Best of all, seeing one of the four copies of the original Magna Carta. A defining moment.
I know there's work in progress but have a look at places like Warwick castle and Gorey castle for tips on how it could be done! Huge potential but lacking in exhibits.
I been to this castle several times and find it more interesting every time. Also throughout the year they have several events that will keep all the family entertained.

Cannot fault the museum area and the old jail - do take time to read all the information provided as it is so interesting. Was also fascinated by the Magna Carta. The old...

They are spending money on it so should be different by 2015 so let's hope that they can make it into somewhere worth visiting.
I went with my partner - mainly to see the Magna Carta. The exhibition leading up to the room is good, very informative and puts it back into today's context. I was slightly disappointed, however, to find that the lady who was staffing the Magna Carta room and was offering explanations was, although very nice, making mistakes (she told me...
