The RAF Scampton Heritage Centre is housed inside the Annexe offices of the former 617 Sqn Hangar which is an English Heritage Grade II listed building. After a period of extensive renovation work carried out by volunteers, the Heritage Centre re-opened in June 2012. There is now the opportunity to see Wg Cdr Guy Gibsons office as it would have looked like in 1943.The Heritage Centre is open to the public by appointment only. Visits can be booked through the Head Curator Mr Roger Crisp. We can accommodate small and large groups, coach tours are very welcome as well as school trips.

Terrific visit with knowledgable guides and so much to see in the time available. Very humbling to see Guy Gibson's office and the briefing room and of course the... More

What a brilliant place to visit, guides have fabulous knowledge about the crews who flew from Scampton in WWII. Guy Gibson's office is truly amazing. But it is not all about the Dambuster's there is so much more to see and do.

You have to book this free tour via the website and get an e-mail confirmation. Tours are adhoc as they are run by volunteers, so book early. The RAF base as a whole is a little decrepit and deserted these days but the Heritage Centre part relives the story and the stage for the real life Dambusters (including where the... More

A must for RAF keen people. See the history behind the most famous military flying display team in the world. Also see history surrounding the Dambusters who were based at this RAF station in the second world war.

RAF Scampton is the present home of the Red Arrows and has a museum which is certainly worth visiting but I beleive that one has to call first to arrange a visit as it it is not always open. RAF Scampton had a strategique involvement during WW2.

We were booked on a tour, which you have to do as the heritage centre only opens once or twice a week. The induction outside points out various bombs carried by Lancasters including the famous Dambusters bouncing bomb. You also get to see Guy Gibson's beloved Labrador's grave. Inside we first went the the recreated 1943 crew room and Guy... More

A group of us visited the museum on an organised tour. A complete surprise. The Guides were excellent and brought the whole museum to life. The hangard exhibits were fascinating and the "Dambuster" memorabilia very moving. The additional exhibitions, including the Fire Service Museum, combined with the Red Arrows flying a display made for a memorable day. Good to see... More

Visited whilst ona weekend break. Absolutely excellent would highly recommend. You need to contact the base prior to visiting to arrange a visit, but this was no problem. We had a personal guide who was extremely knowledgeable and even saw the Red Arrows taking off for a practice. Brilliant.
