The RAF Scampton Heritage Centre is housed inside the Annexe offices of the former 617 Sqn Hangar which is an English Heritage Grade II listed building. After a period of extensive renovation work carried out by volunteers, the Heritage Centre re-opened in June 2012. There is now the opportunity to see Wg Cdr Guy Gibsons office as it would have looked like in 1943.The Heritage Centre is open to the public by appointment only. Visits can be booked through the Head Curator Mr Roger Crisp. We can accommodate small and large groups, coach tours are very welcome as well as school trips.

Red arrows

Booked in for a visit to the museum & ended up having a full red arrows show with commentary from Red 10. Got up close & personal with the team.

We arrived to be greated by the museum staff, each one was informative, knowledgable, passionate, helpful and hilarious! The staff took extra care to ensure that the blind visitor in our party and his assistance dog where well catered for, going above and beyond our expectations. I was fascinated by the stories about the planes, fire engines and equipment we... More

As a charity group we went to visit RAF Scampton Heritage centre. The staff there were most helpful in ensuring our visit was well organised and managed well. The group loved seeing round the museum and having hands on experience in the Red Arrow.

This has all the potential of an excellent museum but needs some tweaking. While there is some attempt to group artefacts appropriately, I was still left with a feeling of chaos! It has excellent artefacts, particularly of the Dambusters, but they do need to be grouped together in appropriate rooms and with some better labelling and signage. The staff members,... More

My family had such a wonderful day, from the second we arrived we were made to feel welcome by staff who had passion for what they were doing and exceptional knowledge. my children aged 5 and 3 spent the three hour journey home talking about their day.

Thanks to John our volunteer tour guide we thoroughly enjoyed it. He was very knowledgable and patient. So thrilled as we were able to enjoy the unexpected Red Arrows training while we were there and took lots of close up photos. The history of the base was very informative especially the Dambusters. We took a trip to the Dambusters inn... More

Just reflecting back on my visit to RAF Scampton Heritage Centre and have concluded that it was THE BEST historical guided tour, I've been lucky enough to go on. No entrance fee, but tours need to be arranged in advance via rafscamptonheritagecentre@gmail.com. Donations gratefully received. All of the volunteers were lovely people and possessed a depth/breadth of knowledge I've never... More
