Has a very varied collection of local fossils and reconstructed skeletons, along with a lot of local art. Well worth a visit if you have a spare hour

The legendary New Walk Museum is in the heart of Leicester and is certainly a Leicester landmark. I remember going here a number of times as a kid, and its still free. The exhibits are great (especially the ancient Egyptian exhibit) but we aware of the mummy coming out of the wall! The Picasso pieces in the upstairs gallery are... More

Brilliant resource for FREE. In the ground floor there is a nice cafe and gift shop and then all the high impact interest areas for kids - the Egyptian mummies, dinosaurs, geology and natural history. There is a play area for the littler ones who get bored more quickly and need to let off steam. The World War area seemed... More

The Picasso ceramics were different, there's a large section for children and unfortunately the dinosaur section was shut for the day due to filming, hence the four stars. But overall it was a decent one hour or so spent when we were in Leicester.

The Egyptian section is fantastic but aside from this I felt that the museum was very average. Exhibitions are, on the whole, very small. However, the place is well geared up for children including tunnels they can crawl through to see hidden bits of exhibitions. There is also a play section and structured child-friendly activities.

I remember the first time I came here as a kid and loving this place and 30 years on and having kids of my own and bringing them here and them enjoying the place. The place is the pride of Leicester being up kept and maintained and still as interesting as it was all those years ago

I stopped by here last year when I was in Leicester for a couple of days. The museum is a great place to have a walk around if you have some free time. It's a small museum, so it doesn't take a long time to see everything, but the quality of the exhibitions are great. I especially loved all the... More
