On a rainy Sunday afternoon I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. A wonderful building and grounds, very light and clean looking and everything well placed and set up. I was visiting the Egyptian exhibition (which ends on the 27th September 2015)and the Secret Egypt artefacts which are housed all the time Room 5) Entry is free and there is... More

I took my 2 sons here and we enjoyed our time here. There are different sections to visit and a play area for children, however this could do with a much needed makeover. There is also a cafe and gift shop. Parking is not hard to find and it has full access for disabled visitors. I would visit again as... More

Did a quick visit to the museum to see one of the new exhibitions. There are some which change pretty regularly and this one which was old local art was very good indeed. The visit was spoilt by loud intrusive staff radios in the art gallery and reception which was really not needed and echo all over the place..Ear pieces long... More

This is a very well kept museum and the staff were friendly and helpful too. It's worth re-visiting as they change the exhibits seasonally.

We visit every couple of years and really like this museum. The Egyptian section is our favourite however, even though I'm no art lover, the gallery is always more interesting than I expect it to be. On-street parking is possible if you're lucky or even in the museums own car park if you time it right. You'll find this a... More

We went to see the king Richard 3 prayer book. And it is a very nice place to visit. And it is a fantastic looking building.

The dinosaurs and the mummies would be the most interesting parts for the kids but there is always a new attraction upstairs which is seasonal. I've seen the fashion events, olympics event and the space one from a couple of years ago, if you are in the area you can't just visit once as it changes regularly.

Fabulous museum within walking distance of our hotel in De Montfort Street. Our six year old son particularly loved the dinosaurs display (ground floor). He also left with a bag of pirate gems.

I had a couple of hours to kill on Saturday so I had a nice wander down to the New Walk museum as they have a new Egyptian exhibit. It is a wonderful little place, with exhibits varying from dinosaur bones to fossils to Egyptian mummies and tombs. There's also a café if you need a break.

Visited on a summer holiday Sunday afternoon we were delighted with all the little bits of interactiveness and worksheets - plenty to keep a 9 yr old busy for several hours and I think we only got to half of it before closing. Yes some of the exhibits have a bit of wear and tear but the staff more than... More
