This museum is pretty standard for a small museum in the UK but its actually better than any museum I have visited in any other country. Great for a family tour or an outing for a history buff. Also the walkways around the museum are really romantic and easily provide shortcuts to the city. This is where i saw my... More

A beautiful building and gardens which has something for all ages. Located in the City Centre, just a short and scenic walk from the railway station, it is free to enter and offers a wide range of exhibits, from dinosaurs & ancient Egypt to art and animals. There are regularly new exhibits passing through so we visit regularly and often... More

Beautiful old building, worth seeing for its own sake, lovely garden with plants/herbs that would have been grown in its day. Staff very good, helpful, informative, pleasant. Museum would appeal to all age groups. easy to find.

This landmark is situated in close proximity to the city centre ,so is accessible by foot. There is no entrance fee ,although make sure you bring money for souvenirs in the gift shop. The Egyptian exhibit is rather good and has a interactive section for the younger audiences. There is a animal exhibit that gives facts about all different types... More

Has a very varied collection of local fossils and reconstructed skeletons, along with a lot of local art. Well worth a visit if you have a spare hour

The legendary New Walk Museum is in the heart of Leicester and is certainly a Leicester landmark. I remember going here a number of times as a kid, and its still free. The exhibits are great (especially the ancient Egyptian exhibit) but we aware of the mummy coming out of the wall! The Picasso pieces in the upstairs gallery are... More

Brilliant resource for FREE. In the ground floor there is a nice cafe and gift shop and then all the high impact interest areas for kids - the Egyptian mummies, dinosaurs, geology and natural history. There is a play area for the littler ones who get bored more quickly and need to let off steam. The World War area seemed... More

The Picasso ceramics were different, there's a large section for children and unfortunately the dinosaur section was shut for the day due to filming, hence the four stars. But overall it was a decent one hour or so spent when we were in Leicester.
