New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester's original museum has wide ranging collections and displays spanning the natural and cultural world. Located on the historic New Walk, our temporary exhibitions feature works from our collections, touring exhibitions from National Museums and a programme of contemporary art and craft exhibitions. A family friendly day-out, the galleries include Ancient Egypt, Dinosaurs, Wild Space, World Arts and a gallery for the under 5s, The Den. The first floor galleries include displays of Modern Art and Picasso Ceramics: The Attenborough Collection. The museum offers a range of events from curator's talks to lunchtime concerts, visit our events pages to see What's On this month. The museum also offers a Gift Shop offering a range of exhibition merchandise and contemporary craft and design and Costa Coffee shop with free Wi-Fi available.

The museum is really well organised and has something for everyone in different age groups to keep you occupied and interested, the cafe is lovely and staff are all really helpful !

Free entrance & good variety of exhibits to see. Really enjoyed the Egyptian section & the prehistoric section as well.

I've been going to the New walk for over 30 years with my three children and now my grandchildren and I still enjoy it every time, so do the kids. When ever guest come to see me in leicester, we end up there. As I know it's the one place where you can spend a couple of stress free educational... More

The museum has had a lot of time and money put in to it. It fills a good few hours and is good for everyone of all ages and interests. Well worth checking out.

Good for kids. Has quite a lot of variety (Egypt, german expressionist art, dinosaurs, animals , rocks and minerals) but could do with a bit more variety in exhibitions. The art gallery is fantastic and the shop is quite good. In a nice area.

Great and easy to navigate museum for small tour groups, school aged children and to tease the traveler who intends to go to the big natural history museums in London or abroad. I visited this museum this past December. For me it was not hard to find it. In a very sleepy city, this place is one of the main attractions.
