A great place to spend some time for the series historian and the casual tourist. The art galleries were very well presented and all the 'zones' had their own unique feel. We enjoyed the Egyptians, the dinosaurs and the mammals of the world but time meant we could not see everything but we will be back. New walk walk is... More

If you go to a lot of museums you might think this is typical with dinosaurs, art displays and local history. However this was very well presented with enough well presented exhibits to be interesting but not too many to overwhelm. There was an exhibition of Picasso ceramics with an audio guide which is to be recommended (we really enjoyed... More

This is located in such a cute area of Leicester which is close to the centre, as well as the station. The museum itself is perfect for all ages with interactive installations and art to play with.

Amazing collection of items and with special exhibitions throughout the year. Easily found on the pedestrianised New Walk. Only about 10 minutes from the centre of Leicester.

Have seen many varied and excellent exhibitions here. Most recently the upstairs hall was 'between exhibitions', but I did enjoy some of the German Expressionist paintings and Picasso ceramics - not terribly child friendly unfortunately, but the dinosaurs and stuffed animals are old favourites. The cafe looked busy and the shop had a few good price reductions.

I appreciate that any small museum has to put a lot of effort into being a Fun Day Out for the Family. However, I came for the Victorian paintings, and was a bit disappointed to find only one room devoted to a rather mixed bag. The other thing I would have liked would have been lunch in the cafe, but... More

I have always loved the New Walk Museum since being a child and glad to see it hasn't gone downhill since! Took my 1.5 year old and she loved seeing the animal exhibits and we took a selfie with a dinosaur skeleton. Definitely still a favourite when I'm in Leicester!

Was an OK museum, the gallery attendants looked miserable and most of the interactive bits in the wildlife gallery were broken which was disappointing, there was also a whole section unavailable due to renovation however, it was a nice free time filler whilst in Leicester.

Have been to this museum several times and we never get bored . Not a huge museum but enough to keep you busy for a few hours . Varied exhibits and very interesting

I decided to visit the New Walk gallery on a recent visit to the Midlands. It is always interesting seeing each town's art gallery's permament collection, but you can imagine my annoyance when I arrived to see that the main gallery was closed for refurbishment. There was no mention of this on the gallery's website. This is a bad mistake.... More
