There is always something new at New Walk Museum, but the permanent exhibits are well worth revisiting regularly. Brilliant picture gallery which I never tire of; I also love the Picasso ceramics collection donated by Sir Richard Attenborough - how lucky is Leicester to have this permanent exhibition. Children love the dinosaurs, Egyptians, and stuffed wildlife. Cafe is good too.... More

A few areas of improvement required - lighting in the Victorian gallery is very poor (far too bright and you can barely see some of the paintings in the dazzle). But what a collection of German art in the room on the first floor. Not seen anything of the like before - a must see.

We spent a delightful morning in the museum and art gallery. Most of it was in the Victorian art section which showed superb paintings,by a number of artists with different styles and subject matter. The dinosaur skeletons were very impressive and set in a room with plenty of space to view them, the Egyptian section was wonderful and all exhibits... More

Not been to the museum in years and was pleasantly surprised, the layout had been changed from when I used to visit as a child (naturally) but there was now a café and a shop and some good exhibits catering for youngsters, the egyption mummies were still there and a great natural history section. The art exhibition upstairs was good... More

The museum is free and that is noticeable. The building and interieur need refurbishing and the expositions were not very interesting for me. Perhaps with the exception of the prehistoric animals.

This museum is pretty standard for a small museum in the UK but its actually better than any museum I have visited in any other country. Great for a family tour or an outing for a history buff. Also the walkways around the museum are really romantic and easily provide shortcuts to the city. This is where i saw my... More

Beautiful old building, worth seeing for its own sake, lovely garden with plants/herbs that would have been grown in its day. Staff very good, helpful, informative, pleasant. Museum would appeal to all age groups. easy to find.
