Fairly small when compared to London museums, but probably one of my favourites. Used to go all the time as a quite nerdy child and visited last month when 25 and enjoyed it just as much. The sections of the museum are well defined, which makes it feel more interesting, compared to places like the V and A where you... More

The museum is free to enter just leave a donation on your way out if you think it was worth the visit. Set in the lovely Newark Walk, even after 40 years l still love walking up the old fashioned parade and can imagine the Sunday Walks when Ladies walked along in their Sunday best hoping to attract a new... Especially enjoyed the ancient Egyptian and the Arts & Crafts galleries but devoted 2 hours to visiting all the galleries & enjoyed them. There really was much to see!

I visited to check this out to consider it for a family visit. The dinosaurs are pretty cool and would impress many a small child. The collection of paintings seems a little bit random. The wildlife area would be good for a school trip. There is some attempt to engage visitors in activities but if I were taking my niece... More

This Museum and Art Gallery is small but delightful, situated on an open tree-lined walkway just a short distance from the busy city centre. It has a variety of exhibitions, which do change frequently, although inevitably there are some which are fairly permanent. Occasionally there are exhibitions by local artists or children, which are always exciting, whilst the present exhibition,... More

Visiting this museum did cause a moment of hilarity when my husband realised that many of the exhibits were exactly the same as when he visited as a small child, he is 53 years old!! Seriously, the dinosaur section is pitiful, there are some dusty, uninteresting rocks and if you visit the Egyptian section you better have extremely good eyesight... More

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your visit to New Walk. The museum has always shown an eclectic mix of the city's outstanding collections, from Lowry to polar bears! We can assure you that there have been many changes to the museum in the last 50 years, most recently an extremely popular dinosaur gallery and new displays focusing... More

There is a lot of content in this museum and at least two hours could be spent. There is lots to appeal to adults, and the young, such as artworks (two excellent exhibitions on Leicester; and Alfred Wallace, a British naturalist and explorer); and stuffed animals (fine displays, although behind glass they are unusually close to the onlooker). A display... More

This museum is great for everyone to come and see. They have variety of exhibitions and just sitting peacefully and allowing the art to capture your eyes and understand the beauty and story behind the art. I thoroughly enjoyed the Egyptian artefacts as you feel you are walking back in the timeline. Great way to gain further knowledge, history and... More
