Until I visited Leicester recently, I'd not been to the city centre. I didn't realise "how big" the commemorations were going to be for the re-burial of Richard 3rd. Whilst I was there they were recording for "Songs of Praise" so I saw Bill Turnbull! The cathedral is like a very large parish church. One area is a café. They... More

We visited on the first day after Richard lll's coffin was on show. The cathedral staff and volunteers did everything to make the visit smooth and it was good to find they were making use of the dozens of roses being brought in by the public - turning them into flower arrangements for the funeral. The queues were unexpectedly long... More

Leicester Cathedral has been transformed inside, ready for the reinterment of Richard III. There is evidence of all working hard to make the cathedral look at its best. A visit is worthwhile to view all the changes.

If you want to find a quiet place to sit and think, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Leicester shopping streets, then head for the cathedral. A very welcoming place, with a bright, serene interior. No charge for entry (though this may change once Richard III takes up residence!), but please leave a donation for the upkepp... More

Visited the cathedral after visiting the King Richard III Visitor Centre. Some impressive stained glass windows, one of my passions. Very friendly and knowledgable volunteers who are prepared to chat and give more information. Work going on preparing for the re-internment of King Richard but this in no way detracted from our visit.

We were both actually attacked in the cathedral grounds whilst sitting on the benches. Although we loved to go here, it just wasn't well-lit in the early dark evenings, and no CCTV.

We popped in for a quick visit and pleased we did. We were provided some info from the staff / volunteers which was interesting, especially as the Cathedral was having a spring clean! We were told that there was ongoing work in progress on Richard III's tomb so some of the Cathedral wasn't open for visitors. Due to all the... More

Just passing and a service was on. Peeped through the glass. Building works going on as preparation for the reinterment of Richard III.
