Our sole purpose in going to Leicester was to visit Richard 111's centre and tomb. My first impression was that the Cathedral was much smaller than it had seemed on TV but much more beautiful. It is one of the nicest I have seen. Richard is placed nicely to allow easy access. The tomb is of marble and plain. I... More

Located in Leicester - a short walk from the Holiday inn This large church is very uninspiring -because its a city it gets Cathedral status The stone carving is good, but its always cold. It can now claim to have Richard 3rds skeleton buried within. But my opinion on Richard the 3rd is that a question of childrens murders will... More

Leicester Cathedral us enjoying the newly found fame of its newest resident, King Richard. His tomb his strikingly modern but not of place in this small cathedral. The heating was on during our visit in late April when there was sun but a cold wind outside, but inside the cathedral was the warmest such building I have ever visited. The... More

I applaud the cathedral for providing a place for Richard III to be laid to rest that befits a King of England. This was no small undertaking and while many Ricardians feel York was the more proper place, the efforts by the Cathedral are appreciated by many.

Have been a visitor to Leicester for years but had never visited the Cathedral, probably because it is quite small and looks more like a church. My loss! Inside is beautiful. The ceiling is amazing and of course the Tomb of Richard III is now the most obvious reason for so many visitors from far and wide. There is no... More

It's shocking that, even though I'm from the local area, I've never visited this part of Leicester. I was in the area for Record Store Day and the cathedral is located right next to the store I'd been visiting. Obviously there's been a lot of interest in the cathedral since the internment of Richard III yet, despite it being a... More

Having checked the website for events and closures and found nothing listed for Thursday afternoon 16th March, it was disappointing to find a posse of ladies turning away visitors to the tomb of Richard lll. There was a secular reception being held for local rugby teams and the cathedral was therefore closed all afternoon. One disappointed elderly man said he... More

This visit was part of the Richard III visit as a result of the interment of his bones a couple of weeks earlier. Being a former parish church the cathedral itself is not of that great an interest - althougn the ceiling is quite remarkable, but now being Richard III's burial site, it is attracting world-wide interest. On the day... More
