If it's not raining (too much), Stanley Park is a splendid nearby contrast to the frantic centre of Blackpool. It's a fine and large example of a municipal park, with excellent formal and semi-formal gardens, and a large boating lake, plus various "outdoor activity" opportunities (good BMX course, skateboard area, fine playground), generally placed at the edge of the park... Needs more stuff in it for everyone to enjoy. Mainly for children, and a few unusual attractions weren't enjoyable, disliked the half drunk people around

A delightful park with lots of room to let your dog run free, as long as they are under control. The only signs advising that they should be on leads was in the bowling greens. Went round the park and the kids loved it. We enjoyed the play area and the train ride. The park looks immaculate and very well kept. Shame some of those with dogs don't clean up after them.
