Wow. It's about 20 minute walk from the station. Follow the Tarmac lane for two thirds of the way up then take any of the paths. If they go up you'll get to the top, it's as easy as that. If you struggle with the ascent you're either ill or very unfit. The view from the top is wonderful. The... More

We went to Orrest Head on our last day in Lake District. Orrest Head is a hill in the Lake District on the eastern shores of Windermere. We can easily walk up to the top of Orrest Head which took us about 20 minutes. Once reach the top of hill you can see an absolutely beautiful view over the lake... More

Try a different walk....go from Bowness to Lickbarrow along the Dale Way head into Windermere and onto Orrest Head extend the walk toward the farm turn right through the wood back into Windermere ...gorgeous.

Me and my partner visited just prior to storm Jonas hitting. Still lovely views, windy at the top and only 30 minutes walk up.

This is very good for young children. The main path is a winding lane and eventually steps made from the rocks, but there are lots of trails in the surrounding woods that get you to the same place. The view over Windermere from the top is stunning, but on the day we climbed to the top the mist stopped any... More

Only 20 minutes to the top from just opposite Windermere station. The first day it was rainy and cloudy but still a pleasant walk. There is another path you can take through the trees which mixes it up a little. The second day was clear and snowy and the view was incredible. A must if you are in Windermere

Excellent, eleven of us had a fun time! Lots of walking , shopping in Windemere. Friendly pub and had so much fun in our own far every night. We even had a disco and a lovely Sunday roast in the extremely large kitchen.

This hill is not that difficult to walk up but when you get to the top, the views are amazing, Well worth the trip. Descend down into Windermere for a nice coffee afterwards. The walk can be done in a morning giving you the rest of the day to enjoy the lakes.
