This walk took us 25-30 mins up to the top (and I am not the fittest and 5 months pregnant!) It is a combination of road, woodland track, and stoney steps so you do need to wear appropriate footwear as it can get a little slippery if wet. You start opposite the Natwest bank on the main road - right... More

Had an early morning walk up Orrest head with husband and teens. Easy access from the village and a lovely walk to the top. There are plenty of seats all the way up for a rest or just to take in the views.Once at the top amazing 360 degree views so don't forget your camera.

The walk is not too strenuous, and we are 60 and 60+. There is a good path and other hiker/walkers to encounter in the 30 to 45 minute walk up. It was drizzle-raining and windy when we went, but gorgeous at the top. A magnificent view of the countryside and lake.

A roughly 30 minute walk will bring you stunning views, worth wearing walking boots for grip as it can be slippy and taking a leaflet if available at the start of the walk as the signage could be a bit better. But this is free and worth the steeper sections, you do need some level of fitness for this but... More

This is only a short walk from the town centre and is a "must do" as the views across Lake Windermere are stunning! It is a fairly steep climb but there's a seat at the top to relax and take in the view. The last time we came here it was early evening and the sunset over the lake was... More

Best view of windmere ! For a short walk uphill which is amazing. Takes about 20-30 mins. Easy to find the start opposite the tourist information centre on the main road in Windermere.

This involved a 20 or so minute walk from the centre of Windermere, we used a postcard guide from the local post office ! The walk itself was not too taxing although a little steep in places (there are plenty of rest stops though). It is well signposted and maintained ending with stunning views over Lake Windermere and the surrounding... More

We climbed up to Orrest Head with took about 35 minutes with my two children aged 11and 7. It was a great walk which lead to breathtaking views. I don't do much walking, so it was rather tiring but worth it. I'd definitely recommend it!
