A few steps from the Windermere Hotel at the top of the town the curcular walk was easy enough for my partner and her artificial knee. Taking the left path through the woodland is the best way up as you get glimpses of the views to come as you ascend. View from the top is everything you would expect with... More

Great little walk, ideal for beginners but still has a few short steep bits. Should only take around an hour from windermere so good for all ages, even to wear out the 2 year old

A true gem - the best view in the Lakes, yet a short climb from Windermere town. We walked from our hotel. The path is easy with boots or trainers, and takes 25 minutes from the road.

A short 20-30min trek with amazing views at the top! The trek itself isn't challenging so I'd say it's probably suitable for most age groups. Does get a bit slippery when it's wet but other than that it's pretty safe. The views at the top were breathtaking.

Accessible with a stout pair of boots and only a limited sense of direction, the path to Orrest Head starts not far from the railway station. Maps are available from the Windermere Tourist Information Centre. Whilst only half a mile or so away from the beginning, this involves some steep inclines through wooded area, so a certain mobility is required.... More

This short and easy walk rewards with stunning views over Windermere which you can see in just about its entirety. There are plenty of benches at the top, take a picnic and absorb the views.

Easy walk to viewpoint above Windermere town, with lots of footpaths leading away to places like Holehird gardens. The woods behind Orrest Head are beautiful. Views are spectacular.

Great place to obtain the best view of the lake without difficult hiking! The trip up only takes about 20 min.

A very pleasant short walk (up hill) to find some of the best views of the Lakes I have seen. This is an ideal walk for someone who has never walk in the Lakes before.
