Great view from the top across the lake & hills. Bit cloudy on the day we were up there, so the diarama was not much use. Good excuse to go back up again.

I am not a "walker" (don't own walking poles) but even I found this a fairly easy up and down. About 30mins up (no rush, it's not a race) and plenty of places to sit an absorb the absolute beauty that is the Lake District once you reach the top. Start just near the school and wander through the woods,... More

It felt like there would have been less steps on the stairway to heaven but the view is so so so worth it! Took 35 minutes from where Booth's is to reach the top if you were looking for a quick high view point to take some amazing photos!

On a clear day the views are breathtaking. 360° of beauty. The Lakes, the Yorkshire 3 peaks. Wow! And not too strenuous a walk.

A lot of people seem to go straight up and back the same way. We followed the path that goes down the other side and back round to Windermere, which of course takes longer but made for a very pleasant couple of hours. We can see why Wainwritght fell in love with the place.

This is a great walk and not too strenuous, and the views on a clear day are well worth the climb...

Climb but a little hill, said the poet Geoffrey Winthrop Young, who might well have been thinking of Orrest Head (which I think is the hill that first inspired A W Wainwright). The effort of a short and enjoyable climb from Windermere station (or thereabouts) brings the reward of beautiful views of Lake Windermere and beyond from the vantage point... More

Orrest head is small hill located very close to Windermere town. The route to the hill is easy, well marked and pleasant. The view from the hill is very beautiful especially the view of Lake Windermere. There are couple of benches to sit relax and enjoy the nice view.

Did this walk with a 3 year old and 7 week old in carrier. Fantastic views. Quite steep in places but easy walk overall. We parked near Windmere Hotel (2 hour free park)
