We stayed two nights at an in-situ gypsy caravan near Penrith. Barny was a great host with fantastic communication and a friendly greeting. The location was good with Penrith nearby and walks to nearby sites such as Long Meg and Her Daughters. The caravan itself was warm and cos - even with the chill of November - and cooking over... We both had a brilliant and memorable 2 nights in the caravan at the end of January 2014. The weather couldn't of been much worse, with gale force winds and rain, but that just made the weekend more of an adventure. Just nice to be away from civilization with no electric, just torch's and a lovely wood burning stove to... More

"There's real life for you, embodied in that little cart. The open road, the dusty highway, the Heath, the common, the hedgerows, the rolling downs! Here today, up and off to somewhere else tomorrow! Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you and a horizon that's always changing." - I am not sure I can improve on the description... More

It's hard to put into words just how much we enjoyed this weekend away. Being out in the open air with the rest of the world seemingly so far away, going back to basics was brilliant. We were lead to camp by Katus who was really helpful and friendly, and lead back by the delightfully charismatic Barny. I would recommend... More

We first travelled with Barny and the beautiful, gentle, one and only Charlie 2 years ago and had such a good time returned again this July. This time we travelled with gentle giant Bob,a kind and handsome Clydesdale.,Barny kindly let my grandson take the reins as we travelled, the caravan is authentic and has every thing you need.At camp my grandson enjoyed making... We (2 parents and 2 school aged kids) all had a fantastic time with Bob, the hardworking Clydesdale, and free-spirited hosts Barny and Katus for 2 nights. We loved how time slowed down ambling along on beautiful country roads. Katus drove the wagon to our campsite (on a working farm). Everything was set up nicely, and we cooked our dinner... More

Wasn’t sure what to expect at first as we have never been to a gypsy caravan before but it was excellent and we enjoyed every second of it! The caravan was situated in a lovely secluded field in a very beautiful and peaceful area. There is plenty to do and we spent our weekend taking long walks and kayaking. The... More

We surprised our family with this trip & it was unforgettable. We were swooped up from a pub & gently drove the horses for a couple of hours to our destination for the night. Along the way we stopped to collect some firewood. We arrived at camp, got set up, cooked dinner on the fire, opened a bottle of wine,... More

Myself and my boyfriend and his ten year old daughter stayed on the caravan for two nights at the Watermill at Little Salkeld and the trip far exceeded our expectations on every level. We met Barny and Bob the horse on the first day and had a peaceful ride to Little Salkeld with a stop at a pub and a... More
