Spent a lovely afternoon here wandering around the beautiful walled garden and strolling through the woods. There are timed tours of the house every half hour, which are excellent. Michael Crane was our guide, and he was knowledgable and enthusiastic, and the hour sped by.

I stopped off with my brother to have a wander around. Knowledgeable guides in the house that helped bring the history of the rooms to life. It takes about 45-50 mins to do the tour and it felt about the right sort of time. The grounds are lovely, especially the walled garden behind the house, and we even had a... More

First visit to Hutton in the Forest for Potfest in the Park 2015 and it was well worth the journey if you are interested in ceramics. Set in the stunning grounds of Hutton House it was lovely and relaxed with some of our favourite potters there with fabulous work, such as Peter Beard, Gordon Cooke, Roger Lewis and Nigel Edmondson.... We visited for the annual Potfest event held at Hutton every July. The event plays host to some of the most talented potters from around the world. There is an excellent variety of ceramics to meet all tastes. The backdrop of the Cumbrian House gives the event a feeling of class and status. For those interested there are regular tours... More

The gardens are beautiful but you might wish to apply insect repellent before you leave the car. We took the tour of the house. It lasted about 50 minutes and was interesting but there dont appear to be facilities for those with additional mobility needs -probably because this house is a lived in home. The exhibits are a mixture of... More

Has a very bizarre and fascinating history and taking the guided tour around the house is recommended. The walled garden is very good and worth walking around.

Beautiful home and gardens. Total credit to the family and gardener. Great value for money (£10 each for house tour and gardens). Gardens absolutely stunning so much effort put into them. House tours full of family information and wee stories. Even though house is really impressive it is totally a family home and this is reflected throughout the tour. Well... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the pottery festival. Arrived early and there was a well organised car park, delightful pottery exhibition layout and the atmosphere perfectly enhanced by the "Ragtime Rascals" musical trio. The historical house and gardens were superb and we'll be returning one fine day.
