Derwentwater is a classic shallow lake in the northern English Lake District. Rowing boats can be hired (for the athletic) with motor launch tours of the lake, including a hop on/hop off service, throughout the year with very frequent services in summer. The walk starts from Keswick,head for Keswick theatre,then towards the boat landing stage and follow the path to Friars Crag.From there you will get spectacular views of Derwent Water and the surrounding mountains,inc Catbells. Derwentwater is tranquil & beautiful. You can take a trip on one of the ferries for a circular tour of the lake or you can walk part or all of the way round. I love to walk to Friars Crag and then further on and if it is a nice day sit and admire the stunning view of Catbells across... more
