Was recommended by our b&b owner, he wasn't wrong. Various artwork, pottery and jewellery. Mostly the prices were reasonable. Stopped for a cake and drink all very nice. Biggish car park at the end of a very narrow street.

This Galley / cafe offers a small menu consisting of toasted sandwiches, toasted tea cakes, scones and home made cakes nice for a stop off quick bite as you get to look around the galley too. Wouldn't suggest you go out of your way but if your passing worth popping in.

We found this place purely by accident having walked from Winlatter Forest and so glad we did. Lots of beautiful paintings, sculptures and photography. We had a lovely cuppa and cake before the journey back up the hill to Noble Knott car park. A lovely scenic walk back following the stream and waterfalls. If you like combining art and a... More

For a break from walking whilst staying in Keswick we wanted to spend Saturday doing a bit of retail therapy and discovered an ad for the gallery in the newly published Lakeland magazine. Only a short drive from Keswick and even 'tho we carefully followed the signs we nearly passed the gallery. The small car park was empty but finding... More

Nestled in the small hamlet of Thornthwaite just outside Keswick , this attractive former barn houses a gallery that is absolutely crammed with beautiful paintings, photographs, pottery, jewelry, woodwork and other objets d'arte. Naturally, this being the Lake District, much of the work on display is focused on Cumbria. If you are looking for a special gift or memento of... More

Just west of Keswick and signposted on the A66, lies the small village of Thornthwaite home of one of the best galleries in the Lakes. There is a wonderful variety of ceramics, art, photography and some superb items of furniture and other crafts. There really is something for everyone. We never miss visiting here on our visits to the lakes... More

My wife and I have visited Thornthwaite Galleries a number of times whilst staying at nearby Braithwaite. Our last visit was on 1st December when we also introduced my sister to this attraction. They have a large range of art and crafts for sale. Each time we visit we say we are just looking round but are always tempted to... More

We found the gallery while looking for things to do on a very wet day. This place is fantastic. It is full of all manner of lovely things. I'd checked all the shops in Keswick plus the Saturday market for a present for a friend and eventually at Thornthwaite was spoiled for choice. We didn't try the coffee or cakes... More
