It's a shame that some people are put off because they think an art gallery is going to be 'posh' or intimidating or expensive. Absolutely not. They looked after our party of dripping-wet walkers perfectly, gave us pretty china and delicious cakes.

Aladdin's Cave had no greater treasures than the beautiful Thornthwaite Gallery! Filled with marvelous gifts, treats and trinkets - every one unique, nothing mass produced but products from local artists and craft-gifted members of the locality. From greeting cards to the most amazing carvings, hand crafted jewellery and pottery and of course magnificent pieces of art work featuring the Lakes.... More

A nice place to stop off, albeit slightly off the main road. Some lovely hand crafted pieces from local artists, also a very nice little coffee shop, with extremely nice cakes,

I visit this gallery a few times a year, there are a lot of lovely original objects to view, and to buy if wished. There are many original paintings, ceramics, and attractive objects of wood and of glass, all very tempting!! There are also coffee, tea. and home made cakes, all reasonably priced.

Having read other TA reviews and heard from word of mouth about this Art & Craft attraction we paid a visit; it's a mixture of a surprisingly large number of good quality pottery, paintings, crafts etc in a lovely hamlet near Keswick. But best of all, it has a nice little Tea Room, well worth a visit just for the... More

Interesting gallery with lots of interesting items to view and purchase. We had tea and cake there on a couple of occasions and found the staff to be pleasant and polite. Worth a visit.

After a delightful tea for two in pretty white and blue service and delishious almond slice we wandered round the Gallery. We could have spent all our holiday money at one time! Beautiful pottery, dozens of Art work by locals,'different'jewllryand woodwork to... More

Spent a delightful couple of hours here. Toasted sandwiches to start & tea & cake later. Beautiful arts & craft items for sale & the owners were friendly & welcoming. Nothing to dislike - nothing tatty. Really worth visiting for some genuine hand made gifts.

in one large room it houses interesting pottery, wood carvings and ornaments, jewelry, pictures, photos, etc etc. Also has a nice tea shop and they serve nice warmed scones with proper clotted cream for a lovely cream tea. Its a 10minute drive from Keswick. Not much else there though.

The gallery is well worth a visit if you are in the area. There is a range of beautiful work ranging from paintings, furniture, jewellery, glass to pottery, cards and a lovely tea room serving outstanding homemade cakes - I can highly recommend the Victoria sponge! It is well worth the trip and you may even find that thing that... More
