Great venue, staff and volunteers - spoiled by one over-officious 'jobsworth' who had no flexibility

For the ticket price; theatre productions here are pretty good value (particularly considering as most other establishments in 'The Lakes' tend to charge London prices); my wife and I saw 'Kiss Me Kate' on Sat evening May'13 early Bank Holiday: £15 each for box seats. Whilst the ensemble cast were of mixed ability - (they did though throw their hearts... More

On Bank holiday Monday we stopped at the cafe of Theatre on the lake for a cup of tea and piece of cake sitting outside in the sun. What a mistake. My sister and I ordered a piece of coffee and walnut cake. When it came it seemed stale but what can I say I was hungry . But oh... More

We always like to plan a visit to this theatre whenever we are in Keswick. The staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities very good. A very good variety of plays, films and musical entertainment is offered through the yer. In itself it is a small theatre which gives it an intimate atmosphere. Book early, to be sure of the... I recently visited the Theatre by the Lake to see the Adaptation of Rogue Herries, a TBTL production which was brilliant, the novel was brought to life by top class acting and the Community cast of adults and children using folk songs and dance to convey the graphic narration. It succeeded in every way to bring the mountains of Borrowdale... More

My daughter and I were blessed to be able to visit Keswick last summer. While we were there we took in the "Ladies of Cranford" production at the Theatre by the Lake. What a treat! We arrived early and had a light dinner in the cafe before the play. I had a salad, bread and cheese. It was delicious. I... More
