Each time that we visit Keswick, we make sure to spend at least one night attending shows at The Theatre By The Lake.On our last trip we had booked our seats from Australia but on the day were late getting up to Keswick, The next day we explained our problem to the staff and they were only too happy to... I find it hard to believe that I still meet people visiting Keswick, itself probably the most beautiful little town in the Lake District, who have never heard of the Theatre by the Lake. If you are one of these, I suggest you rectify this as soon as possible. Probably one of the most beautifully situated Theatres in the world... More

Have been a few times to the Summer Season and decided to take my 12 year old to the Christmas Show. As always they did a fantastic job, the staging was excellent and it was good to be transported back to my childhood. My daughter is already wanting me to book for next year.

This is a great small theatre by the lake. Every performance we have been to has been great. We have sat next to people who have come up from London just to see the performances because they are that good. This theatre is a must.

We visit this theatre each year to see their 'Christmas Play'. In 2014 it isq Peter Pan and once again it is a fantastic production and so much a start to the Xmas season. The theatre is delightfully small, you really feel part of the production. Well worth a visit to see whatever production is on, but if you are... More

Dear Jen, Thank you for your comments, it’s really great to hear you enjoyed your most recent experience with us. We’re delighted that the show left a lasting impression with you, it has certainly been one of the most ambitious productions we have ever produced in every aspect – from the flying to the inclusion of the Young Chorus. We... More

This is a wonderful little theatre situated by the banks of Derwentwater. Not only do they put on several plays during the year but they also have a Literary Festival, Jazz Festival, mountain Festival, Christmas Play/Pantomime, etc at set times of the year. The plays are usually very different with a choice to suit most tastes and prices are very... More

I have visited this theatre on a number of occasions. Its modern, comfortable and situated in a great location beside Derwent Water. I was however really disappointed on my last visit. I went to see a matinee performance of Rookery Nook which I believed to be a farce. The front 2 rows of the theatre were filled with children of... More

Dear Visitor, I’m sorry to hear that your enjoyment of the performance you attended of Rookery Nook was affected by the presence of a group which included some young children. This little theatre has a real buzz to it. We only get to go when in The Lakes on holiday but we book for seats as soon as we know we are in the area. It is smart and the staff/volunteers are friendly. We have seen plays here and last night Pam Ayres, who was very funny. A great night... More

I recently went to a matinee performance of Shakespeare's 'A Comedy of Errors' and the performance was absolutely brilliant - really well paced and very well done as a comedy. There wasn't anybody in the audience not laughing by the end! The theatre itself is lovely (although not much leg space in the stalls!), however I would eat elsewhere in... More
