Enjoyed seeing two plays, one on the main stage and other in the studio. The cafe provided a relaxing pre theatre meal. I was fortunate to see Jennifer English perform both evenings - we'll be seeing alot more of her I'm sure.

Our first visit to this theatre and our first Shakespeare play since school. Friendly, helpful staff, nice cafe serving lovely coffee and you can pre-order drinks for the interval. All facilities were spotless and the overall atmosphere was great. The play itself was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the way they have three or four things running on... More

We've been here twice and enjoyed both trips, the first was a brass band concert, the second a 1920s farce. There is a lot of variety at this theatre and our only problem is we're only usually here for a week so we miss some of the best. This time we had a meal before the show, the food was... More

We have enjoyed the Theatre by the Lake twice, now, and both times have been enjoyable. Although, by our London standards, the theatre is small, it boasts two different stages, which show to plays simultaneously. Also there are at least three different plays showing on each stage, giving you a choice of six plays throughout the week! The variety is... More

Loved the atmosphere of the small friendly theatre with excellent facilities - bar, toilets, cafe, ticket sales .

An excellent piece of theatre in the studio. Laughter and pathos throughout. Just one small complaint, the price of tea was over the top. £2 for a small cup of tea, which was not full ,

Saw a marvellous production of Rookery Nook - high quality of acting, good, comfortable seats. Ask at your hotel - we received a voucher giving us £3 off each ticket, but this must be redeemed at the box office, and not online. Pleasant cafe - useful as a stop off point coming back from lake trips for a glass of... More

This is the theatre that never disappoints. Every season there is a varied and interesting programme of plays. This year we saw the thought-provoking "Old Times" and the farce "Rookery Nook", both with some superb performances. Can't wait for next year!

1st act is a little slow, however, 2nd act the play came alive. Brilliant! Theatre is small, so is the legroom.
