Been here twice now, once in the summer and the surrounding scenery was truly amazing and once again when the snow was here, that was beautiful and also scary, I was amazed that the slate mine was open and they were still serving hot drinks and some food, although be it only soup and sausage rolls. Interesting place lots of... More

A raging wind and heavy rainfall increased the dramatic, bleak landscape when we visited. Helpful and patient staff assist you to spend your money in the shop! A very good cafe and excellent toilet facilities are a bonus.

we were very much looking forward to this tour since early this month. Unfortuenately, on the day of tour, (as a non-local) we just found out the public transportation to Kewick (from Windermere) was affected by the flood last December. We were communicating with the company the day before, no such information was provided. We called again on the same... More

Great experience and history of the area and mine. Donald was a great tour guide who had massive amounts of passion. Lots of other activities available on site with friendly staff and a great shop. 10/10 and a must to do if visiting.

Remarkable subterranean venue. Firstly there is the steep climb up through the valley to reach the car park, thats an adventure on its own. The car park - perched on the mountainside with dramatic views over the valley. Honister Slate Mine is a must venue and you need to book in advance. Time slots for guided tours, bus to mine... More

This is one of the few attractions that I have visited in the Lakes - as I prefer to be in the Fells - but it is certainly worth a visit and is both interesting and good fun. We deliberately chose a very wet day to go because we thought we would be inside - however we found we still... More

A great place for the family. Mine trips to learn about the history of the area. Great cable ways on the mountain sides. Shop and cafe.

Went for the via ferrata without any idea what to expect. Was one hell of an excercise and filled with thrills. The guide was funny and friendly and super helpful. IT was the most fun ive had in a long time.

A last minute rainy day visit that has left us wanting to return for more! Well worth leaving a good amount of time if you want to walk and / or take part in some of the activities. This place was 1 man's dream and it shows through the character of the tour guides and the family run feel by... More
