Kids loved it, with a fabulous guide who entertained everyone whilst also teaching them about the work that took place here. Tour lasted about 1.5 hours though was unable to eat own lunch indoors and there is also a £5 charge for the car park. Definately worth a visit and, relative to the tour length, value for money more

This is a fascinating visit for young and old. I learn't so much about the history of mining and how the Victorians turned this mountainside in to a major industry. Visited the Honister Slate Mine whilst in the Lakes in June 2008. Was really impressed with the tour and tour guide. The ladies toliets were pretty impressive! A little random I know but check them out. more
