It used to be her solicitor husband's office and had low ceilings, uneven floors and steep stairs-quite charming. When we visited the exhibition was all about Beatrix and her family travels-they did not travel light!

This amazing former solicitor's office has so much potential, and so much history. Most importantly it was the office of William Heelis - husband of Beatrix Potter. When I last visited a room was set up as a solicitor's office of the period when Beatrix Potter first set foot in it. So, I was very disappointed to see a 21st... More

The gallery was beautifully set up. It took me back to my childhood - it was like wandering through the pages of your favourite Potter book. It was really enjoyable.

All your favourite animals brought to life in their original format; brer rabbit, brer bear, bright and naughty, the workings of a clever mind who sadly lost the need to write once marriage set in!

There is a fee for this - it's is the old office of Beatrix Potters husband that is now a small gallery. It contains a small number of her early illustrations and excerpts of her work. We are fans but were disappointed to not have seen more of her famous well known character illustrations and manuscripts and wanted to know... More

This is the former solicitor's office of Beatrix Potter's husband and displays some of her original work. The rooms are tiny, the ceiling low, but the works exhibited are fascinating. Informative boards give just sufficient information. We were left with the impression of someone who, in addition to being a successful writer, was a talented artist and had a truly... More

After our visit at Hill Top we went to this gallery, and what we found was very interesting, and helpful to better know ans understand the work and life of Beatrix Potter. Great woman, great artist, she fought all her life for saving beautiful houses and landscapes. Thank you Beatrix.

The gallery is housed in the office of William Hellis who married Beatrix Potter. Maybe a bit expensive if your not National Trust members. Amazing work by this wonderful lady. Situated in the village which has remained mostly unspoilt. A small gift area off that essential present. Friendly and knowledgable staff.
