A very knowledgeable guide who gave us a history of the school including the Wordsworth connection. Fascinating to hear how they taught 70 boys in one room. well worth going for a visit and good value at £2.50.

Fascinating glimpse into the life of wealthy schoolchildren, and of course Wordsworth in particular, in the past. We certainly didn't realise that they drank beer and were allowed to carve their initials into their wooden desks! Or that the school day was so long... Seeing the cane in the headmaster's study brought back memories!

A 16th Century grammar school doesn't sound like much fun but the history is timeless! Wordsworth's school, where he found his love for poetry, Fletcher Christian's brother was here, and the original desks with over 400 years of carvings on! It is so amazing! Just one of those little gems you don't know about unless you really look. So go... More

Before walking up Latterbarrow we visited the Old Grammar School and found it a most interesting place. To see the carved names of the students including Wordsworth's was a pleasure and to hear how things were for them made me grateful for going to a present day grammar school. At least they had to use their minds for maths and... More

The old building has a grand history dating back to the 1500's. It's most famous scholar being William Wordsworth.

Beautiful little museum dedicated to William Wordsworth who went to school here. Lots of relics and even a carving by the man himself. Very helpful curator.
