What a horrible experience. You enter a shop, and are goaded into paying before you are allowed through the locked door into an exhibition. The staff do not really sell the exhibition; they just want your money and hope tourists pay. The exhibition itself is a bit meagre. Not really worth the money and I have seen far better. A... More

The museum was much smaller than I'd anticipated on arrival, but having said that, it was most interesting. The shop had a good range of wares on sale, especially regarding Donald Campbell / Bluebird. Very well laid out and nicely put together. Worth the visit.

I didn't know much about the Bluebird and Donald Campbell before visiting the museum but the whole story was really interesting and well-presented by the museum. A shame the actual Bluebird wasn't there when we went but maybe we will see it if we visit again.

I did not expect too much from this museum, as we primarily went for the Bluebird exhibits. However very friendly chap on the door, a nice little shop, and a good range of exhibits well laid out. Definately worth the effort, so go and support the local community. Dr Malc

We visited the Ruskin Museum on a wet Sunday morning, thinking it would while away an hour or so. We were actually in there for well over two hours and even then we hadn't seen everything. The museum is very well laid out and highly informative. Of particular interest to me was the displays on mining in the Coniston area... More

Best attraction for me personally on this trip. I know little of the man apart from his name. The more I learned about him in the museum the more my respect for him grew. A truly remarkable social philospher, artist and philanthropist. Many of his ideas came after him. A lovely house with his turreted bedroom offering the best view... More

We went in as our children were interested in Donald Campbell and Bluebird. There is a fascinating area dedicated to this which we all enjoyed. Also Ruskin, Amazon & Swallows information and lots more. There are interactive stations for children - ours are 6 & 7 years and enjoyed them all. We were there for around 3 hours and could... More

Well it says Ruskin, so lots of lace samples but it also has lots of bluebird related stuff. More like a cabinet of curiosities in places pleasant staff, museum shop.

Some very interesting articles and exhibitions on the local area and John Ruskin, but my most interesting section was the Campbell exhibition,it had me reading every word and watching every video, absolutely fabulous, such a sad historical event, very touching but at the same time fascinating ,definitely worth a visit, good value at £6, will be brilliant when the completely rebuilt Bluebird returns in 2015.

A very interesting collection on Ruskin, as you would expect but also on Donald Campbell his final and fatal attempt at the water speed record in Bluebird. Very enjoyable.
