This is a very well put together collection with lots of info about John Ruskin and also about the projects he initiated locally. The collection of Ruskin lace was particularly impressive for me and I also liked the outdoor collection of miniature buildings in the vernacular style. One wing is devoted to Donald Campbell and the Bluebird which was interesting... More

A really good museum. I didn't really know what to expect as I didn't know much about him, but how interesting. What a forward thinking man, very ahead of his time. Tragic love life though. Well worth the visit. Parents had a nice hot chocolate in the cafe on site, although there was a little wait as only one serving.... More

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable welcome. We were more interested in Campbell than Ruskin on this visit. Excellent exhibition, with evident affection for this adopted son of Coniston. V good VFM - the entrance fee covers return visits within the year.

A very worthwhile visit to learn more about John Ruskin and Donald Campbell. It's hard to believe that the new wing is down to the determination and commitment of volunteers and generous sponsors. Great few hours to learn more about the Victoria Cross holder of Coniston, Ruskin lace and the Bluebird. Can't wait for the Bluebird to be restored and... More

Just up from the general store tucked in the back was this great little museum.Great little shop with books on the area and Donald Campbell. The staff were very knowledgable and helpful about what else to do while we were in the area.

Like many, we went in because it was raining but I'm glad we did. As well as general historical information about the Coniston area. I didn't know much about Ruskin before I came here but I left with new respect for his ideas and achievements. Thanks to the curator for sharing some very interessting insights. Donald Campbell may have been... More

What a fantastic exhibition this was of Donald Campbell, who sadly died attempting his last water speed record in Blue Bird. The whole story there captivated and moved us greatly. We would thoroughly recommend this for a visit and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. We wished we could have spent longer here.

We popped into the museum to see the advertised 90% of the original Bluebird. At no time, during entry, did any staff or notices suggest anything other than seeing the the pretty much complete restored Bluebird. It was of great surprise to find a plastic sheet on the floor where it should have been (at the size of the bluebird... More
