Like many, we went in because it was raining but I'm glad we did. As well as general historical information about the Coniston area. I didn't know much about Ruskin before I came here but I left with new respect for his ideas and achievements. Thanks to the curator for sharing some very interessting insights. Donald Campbell may have been... More

What a fantastic exhibition this was of Donald Campbell, who sadly died attempting his last water speed record in Blue Bird. The whole story there captivated and moved us greatly. We would thoroughly recommend this for a visit and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. We wished we could have spent longer here.

We popped into the museum to see the advertised 90% of the original Bluebird. At no time, during entry, did any staff or notices suggest anything other than seeing the the pretty much complete restored Bluebird. It was of great surprise to find a plastic sheet on the floor where it should have been (at the size of the bluebird... More

John Ruskin I am afraid does not interest me but the Donald Campbell section was very interesting and was the purpose behind my visit. This is a new building and the exhibits were well presented. No reduction for the retired and the entry cost was perhaps a little on the high side but their overheads must be quite high. Not... More

A small museum but holds quite a collection of Ruskin lace and artwork. However, the Donald Campbell exhibits were by far the most interesting. Lots of memorabila as well as information sources. Shop is well stocked. You receive an annual pass for the cost of one entry.

What a horrible experience. You enter a shop, and are goaded into paying before you are allowed through the locked door into an exhibition. The staff do not really sell the exhibition; they just want your money and hope tourists pay. The exhibition itself is a bit meagre. Not really worth the money and I have seen far better. A... More

The museum was much smaller than I'd anticipated on arrival, but having said that, it was most interesting. The shop had a good range of wares on sale, especially regarding Donald Campbell / Bluebird. Very well laid out and nicely put together. Worth the visit.

I didn't know much about the Bluebird and Donald Campbell before visiting the museum but the whole story was really interesting and well-presented by the museum. A shame the actual Bluebird wasn't there when we went but maybe we will see it if we visit again.
