The walk from Ambleside over Jenkin Crag is an old favourite of ours. The start of the walk from behind the public car park opposite the garden centre is up quite a steep minor road which levels out as the road turns to a rough track. Relatively easy walk from Ambleside to Troutbeck passes this viewpoint where there are good photo points or time can be spent watching lake activity below you

We pass this viewpoint on our walk from Ambleside to Windemere from where we return by boat. Great views over lake Windermere and well worth a visit

We visited Jenkins Crag on the last leg of a walk we took up and over Wansfell Pike starting in Ambleside, going over to Troutbeck for lunch at the beautiful old Mortal Man pub, and then back around the south end of Wansfell via Peggy Lane. By the time we got to Jenkns Crag the views were sort of anti-climatic.... More

Amazing views if the weather is clear and a gorgeous walk on the way home, lovely waterfall about halfway. A bit rocky but quite okay for young kids.
